    INCIDENT SYNOPSIS
    An Officer transported a male to jail. During the transport he had a female researcher from Arizona State
    University riding with him. The researcher was doing work on body cameras. During the transport the
    officer engaged in back and forth profane language with the arrestee.

    COMPLAINT
    This was an internal complainant that was initiated after a supervisor reviewed the officers body camera
    video.

    INVESTIGATION
    Internal Affairs interviewed the officer. Just prior to the interview, investigators received a written letter
    from the officer. In the letter he accepts responsibility for his behavior. The officer also accepted
    responsibility in the interview.

    ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION


    The chain of command review recommended a reprimand. The Chief of Police administratively
    suspended the case due to the fact that the officer is voluntarily participating in a plan to address
    performance and demeanor concerns.
