Uplink Total Equivalent User Number

Hi Experts,

In Huawei network he have the parameter (UlTotalEqUserNum) and the default value is 80. I
note that in a lot of cells when I change this value to 160 or 180 I decreased my Call
Congestion(%).
Does anybody can explain how is the best value to this parameter and why?

Tks.

Dan Serbescu (dan_serbescu@yahoo.com) Hi Cesar,

UlTotalEqUserNum can go up to 200. That means equivalent number of users(CS+PS for all
kind of services) not to be higher than this value. It works for Admission control for UL power
control when algo2 is selected for RRC admission and RAB admission.

It is difficult to say why UlTotalEqUserNum is not set to 200 by default; instead 80 is the default
value. I do not know why Huawei keep it this way.
There other similar parameters you just need to be aware off.

There are further explanations in Call admission control in Hedex.

Hafedh Ghabi If UL ENU will be higher, your RTWP will increase (more interference is
allowed in UL) which may cause call drop and degrade the quality.

Cesar Nunes Thanks friends:

Really is very difficult understand why Huawei set it to 80 instead 200.

The Huawei documentatio said: Admission equivalent user number = Admission threshold X
ENU

Admission equivalent user number = 0.6 x 160

Admission equivalent user number = 96 users
--------------------------------------------------------------
Admission equivalent user number = 0.6 x 80
Admission equivalent user number = 48 users

My question is: When this parameter is set to 80 I'll have Admission equivalent user number =
48 users. Is this not enough?

Majid Hussain ULTOTALEQUSERNUM : Meaning, this parameter defines the total

equivalent user numbers corresponding to the 100% uplink load. The parameter should be related
to the admission threshold and actual condition of the network

If you are getting the Power congestion just increase this value from 80 till 200, your power
congestion will be reduced

Cesar Nunes Hi Experts,

Inside the "Load Control" documentation of Huawei I found a equivalent table to ENU.
Example: 1 HSUPA user = 9.36 ENU
1 HSDPA user = 14.17 ENU
1 DCH UL user 384Kbps = 14.27 ENU
1 DCH UL user 128Kbps = 5.78 ENU
1 DCH UL user 64Kbps = 3.45 ENU
1 DCH UL user 12.2Kbps = 1.44 ENU

Ok. If I use the "Uplink Total Equivalent User Number" parameter as 80, I will max 80/14.17=
5.64 HSDPA users. Am I correct? If yes, for me is very low, so I changed the parameter to 160,
so I'll have 160/14.17= 11.29 HSDPA users, it's better (of course, more interference).

If I am correct, I've two more question:

1) In this table when Huawei said HSUPA = 9.36 ENU, which rate it used to HSUPA?
Maximum rate 5.74Mbps?

2) In Huawei I've the licence that I can enable to 60 HSUPA users per cell. So, I enable it, I'll
have 60 x 9.36 = 561. So, its impossible to put the "Uplink Total Equivalent User Number"
parameter in this valeu.
