Background:

On January 16, 2017, the Planning and Development Committee received the Planning and Building Department
Information Report that provided an overview of short-term accommodations in Mississauga, including options for
regulation.

Options to regulate short-term accommodations include:

amend the Zoning By-law to:
- define short-term accommodations (STAs)
- permit STAs only in principle private residences
- allow STAs in detached, semi-detached and townhouse dwellings, with conditions
- regulate duration of stay
create a municipal registry or licensing regime

Staff were directed to circulate the Information Report to interested stakeholders for review and comment
and to hold a public meeting to present proposed amendments to the Zoning By-law. A report detailing the
input received will be presented at a formal public meeting, followed by a recommendation report that will
contain final staff recommendations on STAs in Mississauga.
