The information in this bulletin is a snapshot of weekly activities in
our church and community. It showcases new events that may not be
present in our monthly newsletter. The Weekly News is also posted
on our website: www.esumc.net along with other news and events.
If you want your activity to be included, please make your
submissions to the church office before 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Welcome Visitors!
If this is your first time worshiping with us, we welcome
you. As a church we are committed to Love Jesus Christ
and to Share His Love. We offer three services: 8:30 and
11 a.m. are traditional, and 9:45 a.m. is contemporary.
~ Our Welcome Center is located in Oberholtzer Hall, the room next
to the sanctuary. Brochures on all our ministries are available there.
~ Our Holy Grounds Café is a place for light refreshments and coffee
from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. each Sunday in our Fellowship Hall. The
café provides worshipers with an informal opportunity for fellowship.
~ Our Infant and Toddler Nurseries are available every Sunday from
8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They are located on the lower level of the church
and are staffed with our full-time, professional attendants and parent
volunteers.
~ Children’s Church for ages four through third grade is offered at the
11 a.m. service and is guided by a parent volunteer. Children will be
dismissed after the Children’s Message. Please pick up your children
in the lower level of the church following worship.

Opportunities for Congregational Care and Service to the Church
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to
serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its
various forms. - Peter 4:10
What Stephen Ministers Do and What They Don't Do.
Stephen Ministers provide emotional and spiritual
support to their care receivers. They listen, demonstrate
caring acceptance, maintain confidentiality and use Christian resources
to encourage their care receivers.
Stephen Ministers are not counselors or social workers. They do not
tell people how to solve their problems or personally try to provide for
all of the care receivers needs. They walk beside the individual who is
struggling, offering hope as God brings about healing in the lives of His
children.
Beginning September 8, an in-depth training course will be offered for
members who desire to become involved in this life changing ministry.
Stephen Ministry Sunday is July 18, and a weekly emphasis will
continue each Sunday through the month of August. For more
information contact Peggy Strack at the church office at 421-3280.
Lawn Mower Safety - A tip sheet compiled by five medical/surgical
academies offers tips for preventing injuries associated with lawn
mowers. Tips will be shared for the next few weeks. Tip #4: The lawn
should be cleared of stones, toys and debris before mowing begins, to
prevent injuries caused by flying objects
Card Shower for Hazel Kaniper who will be 99 on Tuesday, July
13. Birthday cards can be sent to her at 2017 North 5th Street,
Stroudsburg, Pa. 18360.

or share. Invite your friends to this free event and "Sing across the

Prayer and Praise
If you have a prayer request, please list it either on the prayer sheet in
the rear of the sanctuary or on the back of the friendship pad, making
sure to include your name on the request. This aids us in updating
weekly requests. Confidentiality is very important, we want to honor
each person's right to privacy – please be mindful of this as you write
your requests.

Just Press Play !
Summer Discipleship Programs
Beginning today, we are pleased to offer "Just Press Play," a
video-based discipleship series. Brought to you by our CCN satellite
system, this series will feature programs on a variety of Christian
topics, including faith, marriage, parenting, leadership, and many
more! Feel free to attend any or all of these seven sessions at either
9:45 or 11 a.m., in the back section of Fellowship Hall.
Our first session this morning, will feature the program Looking for
God: An Unexpected Journey through Tattoos, Tofu, and Pronouns
with Nancy Ortberg. In this program, we learn the joyful truth that
God can be found in the most unlikely times and places. Nancy
Ortberg brings God into focus, encouraging you to grow deeper in
your relationship with God than ever imagined!
Next week's (July 18) topic is When the Game Is Over, It All Goes
Back in the Box with John Ortberg. Using popular games as a
metaphor for our temporal lives, this program neatly sorts out what's
truly important: winning the game of life on earth is a temporary
victory, while loving God and other people with all our hearts is an
eternal one. Using humor, terrific stories and a focus on 'the right
trophies', Pastor Ortberg paints a vivid picture of the priorities that all
Christians will want to embrace.

Opportunities That Enhance the Fellowship of the Body of Christ
End of Summer Celebration! Sunday, September 12 following
worship. This will be a time to welcome Pastor Kimes home, give us
a chance to fellowship together as a congregation, but most of all to
invite a friend, neighbor or co-worker to a great community outreach
event in our parking lot. Mark your calendar today and plan on
attending.
Saturday Night Fellowship is July 17 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall. This month is Let’s Have a Picnic. Bring a favorite
picnic type food to share and then join in a sing-a-long.
Older Kids (55+group) will have a picnic at Zacharias Pond
Monday, July 12 at 11:30 a.m. You can fish, walk the trail or enjoy in
fellowship with others. Bring a dish to share. A deli tray and desserts
are provided. RSVP by calling Jean at 421-0485.
The Annual Bargain Basement is Friday, July 30 from 8 a.m. -
3 p.m. & Saturday, July 31 from 8 a.m. - noon in Fellowship Hall.
Due to basement renovations donations are being received beginning
Monday, July 26. Lunch with homemade items will be served. For

New Church Directory! One way we can be more welcoming is to
recognize the names and faces of those in our congregation. This
directory is also helpful to leadership teams and the pastoral and

Vacation Bible School Information
• Staff Orientation is Saturday, July 17 at 10 a.m. Plan to attend
and check out SonQuest Rainforest and as always, there's a free
gift to the first 10 people thru the door!
• Craft Needs are posted on the Children's Ministry Bulletin Board.
Start saving your plastic water bottles (no lids) and toilet paper
tubes! Sign up on the list if you have anything around the house
you could donate. A collection box is located underneath the sign
up sheet in Oberhotlzer Hall.
• Vacation Bible School SonQuest Rainforest is August 2-6 from
9 a.m. - Noon! Register Now at www.esumc.net. Children age 4
thru 6th grade are welcome. Youth can contact Mrs. Randall to

New Ministry! *Praise Dance for Youth* (ages 9 and up) has
started and meets every Friday from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship
Hall through the summer. Class begins with prayer and devotion,
followed by instruction set to Christian music and is part instruction,
and part creativity. Dancers should wear loose-fitting clothing:
t-shirts with sleeves; shorts, leggings, or pants at knee length or
