Room 111 News!

Happy Reading Week! This week was filled with various reading activities. We started
the week (Wednesday) with pajama day. The children then were able to stay for reading night.
Reading night was filled with art projects, book fair sales, and guest readers. Yesterday we were
able to dress up as our favorite storybook character. The children were very creative! We
paraded around the school to show off the wonderful costumes. Then today, one of our very
own Green Bay paraprofessionals, Liz Mazza, came and read a story she published to us! She
signed the book for our class, and we got to hear the story while looking at the gorgeous
pictures she painted.
Next week we will start our new unit: Frogs! We purchased 2 frogs for our classroom,
and we will watch them transform from tadpoles to frogs over the next 2 months. While we learn
about frogs and their lifecycle, we will also be talking about spring and all the wonderful things
that come along with it.

Speech:
This week the children completed a play scheme of writing a letter and delivering it to a
friend or family member! They practiced following directions to write a letter, stuff it in an
envelope, address the letter, put on a stamp, and deliver it! We also practiced labeling mail
themed vocabulary, sound production, multi-syllabic word production, speaking in grammatically
correct phrases, initiating peer interactions, commenting to peers, labeling verb+ing, asking and
answering wh questions, and labeling pronoun+verb agreement.
Ms. F also read the story Dogs Colorful Day to show off her favorite children's book!
It's about a Dog who ran away got so many colorful spots on his fur coat! The children practiced
counting, labeling colors, answering wh questions and making predictions!
