Executive Summary :

Human resources is one of the important assets of the organization so to build up the manpower
the basic requirement is to fill-up the vacancy. The procedure of filling up the vacancy includes
recruitment and selection These are the blood cells of the HRD process by which right person
is appointed at right place and at right time.

Interview is the single most important step in the selection process. Selection of proper
candidates occurred through the personal interview with the help of questionnaires. The
interviewer has conducted an interview process and has all necessary data to properly evaluate
skills and abilities. A behavioral interview is based on the assumption that past on-the-job
behavior can predict future behavior. The use of situational questions in an interview is based on
the assumption that a persons intentions are related to behavior

Hiring decisions based on the relative quality of an applicant for typical post, skills are also
necessary with the technical knowledge. Skills like communication capability, decision making
ability, team management which are require in day to day working. During interview by
developing a situation which focus on require attribute help to search proper skilled candidate.
Hypothetical questions are asked during the interview and answers of candidate giving idea
about its attributes.

Present study is carried out at JISL during Month x y .The study focuses on observing
predetermined skill sets during behavioral interview at JISL for the post of 1,2,3,4,. Researcher
has observed the interview process and noted down the performance of interviewee on pre-
designed skill sheet. Finally the accumulated scores were compared to final selected candidates.
Hence the relativity of behavioral interview skills and chances of being selected through are
practically experienced.
