The systematic approach to cable accessories Our offer 12

Sdkabel can look back on more than 40 years of experience in the field
of silicone rubber cable accessories for up to 550 kV. This experience
is also a decisive factor in order to be able to guarantee high-quality
terminations and joints for XLPE-insulated 12 36 kV medium voltage
cables. With the early introduction of preassembled insulating bodies,
Sdkabel made sure that critical assembly steps such as the manufacturing
of stress control or insulation elements were taken from the building site
to the manufacturing plant.

The standard range of cable accessories for XLPE-insulated medium voltage

cables includes plug-in terminations for metal-enclosed switchgears with
inner or outer cone, joints with multi-range applications and transition joints
is completed by multi-range terminations for indoor and outdoor applications
as well as terminations for electrostatic precipitators. Our medium voltage
accessories are also approved for networks or applications up to 42 kV
under increased testing demands.

Indoor terminations
Multi-range terminations 1236 kV

Indoor terminations with silicone rubber slip-on technology are set on cables with an insulation made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). Various
optimisations have led to today's common multi-range terminations for 12 and 24 kV. This type of termination covers up to five conductor cross sections
with one insulating body and is compatible with press-fit and screw cable lugs. The applied insulating body material features relatively low shore
hardness (A). This helps to achieve good adjustment to irregularities in the XLPE cable cores that potentially occur when stripping the welded exterior
conductive layer. This makes post-processing of the stripped cores unnecessary.

The indoor terminations significantly exceed the requirements of DIN VDE 0278-629-1.
A breakout is required for application with three-core cables.
For cable mounting, special cable fixings are available.

Outdoor terminations
Multi-range terminations 1236 kV

Outdoor terminations with silicone rubber slip-on technology are set on cables with an insulation made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). Various
optimisations have led to today's common multi-range terminations for 12 and 24 kV. This type of termination covers up to five conductor cross sections
with one insulating body and are compatible with press-fit and screw cable lugs. The applied insulating body material features relatively low shore
hardness (A). This helps to achieve good adjustment to irregularities at XLPE cable cores that potentially occur when stripping the welded exterior
conductive layer. This makes post-processing of the stripped cores unnecessary.

The outdoor terminations significantly exceed the requirements of DIN VDE 0278-629-1.
A breakout is required for application with three-core cables.
For mounting at pole traverses or scaffolding, special mounting clamps are available.

Functionality

The components of electrostatic filters are subject to electrical impulse-

shaped stresses. The voltage increases according to the charging proper-
ties of a capacitor and abruptly drops after voltage flashover in the filter.
Afterwards, the charging process is restarted.

FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR TERMINATIONS

Preassembled cable and high flexible cable links are XLPE cables or flexible EPR-insulated trailing cables which are equipped with terminations in
the factory. They are primarily used for connections between transformers and switchgear or for special applications like electrically-powered trains.

The multi-range capability enables use of up to five cross sections with

one insulating body size. The single-part, triple-extruded insulating body
is made of silicone rubber and consists of a refractive stress control ele-
ment, silicone insulation and an external conductive layer. The conductor
connection can either be realised with screw or press-fit connectors. Con-
nections within one joint size can be realised without any problems. The
metal screen of the joint consists of one winding of braided copper tape.
The external mechanical protection is usually provided by a heat shrink-
able tube. Optionally, corrosion protection tape can be used.

SEV can be compared to SEV and offers the same features

(multi-range capability, application of press-fit and screw connectors).
Additional mounting steps are only required on the paper-insulated
cable side. The paper-insulated cable side is prepared with tape to
ensure that the impregnating compound of the paper-insulated cable
cannot come into contact with the insulating body. This technology is
referred to a dry transition joint.
In connection with XLPE cables with paper-insulated single-core cables, the
external mechanical protection is provided by a shrinkable tube. SEV.
When used on paper-insulated three-core cables, these cables are first
of all divided up into its individual cores with a cable breakout and then
treated as single-core cables. AM/SEV.

SEV transition joints meet the requirements of DIN VDE 0278-629-2.
