ACTS wins geotechnical contract on Riyadh Metro

Advanced Construction Technology Services (ACTS) has announced that it


has won a contract to carry out geotechnical and geophysical works on
Lines 1 and 2 of the Riyadh Metro.

The dealis part ofthe subcontract packages in support ofthe BACS (SaudiArabian
Bechtel,Alm abaniGeneralContractors and Consolidated Contractors Com pany W LL and Siem ens Aktiengesellschaft) consortium .

A totalof65 ACTS em ployees have already been deployed on the project,the com pany said,including geotechnicalengineering
experts to oversee the drilling and logging w orks,and to conduct testing and analysis.In addition,six drilling rigs and a range of
technically advanced geotechnicaland geophysicalequipm ent have also been m obilised for the project.

Com m enting on w hy ACTS w as chosen for the project,M ike Hann,engineering director from the BACS consortium ,said: ACTS
w as selected because oftheir dem onstrated ability to perform to the projects technicaland schedule requirem ents.W e are
satisfied w ith their contribution to this criticalproject w hich dem ands outstanding perform ance from allthe engineering parties
and subcontractors.

excellence in allour services and our strategy ofpartnership w ith our clients for a successfulcom pletion oftheir projects.

Currently ACTS is w orking on the north ofLine 1,w ith the w ork encom passing drilling ofboreholes,logging them using optical
and acoustic tele-view ers and other advanced techniques,as w ellas assessing the subsurface ground layers.A scientific testing
program m e is being carried out sim ultaneously on the extracted cores to assess soilproperties.

ACTS is also undertaking quality controlw ork for other m egaprojects in SaudiArabia,including the King Abdulaziz International
Airport and Kingdom Tow er,both in Jeddah.Kingdom Tow er is set to becom e the w orlds first kilom etre-high skyscraper.
