A LOT OF
Se utiliza en frases afirmativas, delante de un sustantivo:
Contable en plural: I have got a lot of books.
Incontable (singular): I have got a lot of work.
Observaciones: En ingls oral, a lot of tambin puede ser utilizado en frases interrogativas y negativas: Have you got a lot of books? // We havent got a lot of time.

MUCH
Se utiliza en frases interrogativas y negativas, delante de un sustantivo incontable (singular):
How much water is there in the swimming-pool? There isnt much water in the swimming-pool.

MANY
Se utiliza en frases interrogativas y negativas, delante de un sustantivo contable en plural:
How many apples are there in the basket? There arent many apples in the basket.

A FEW A LITTLE
Las expresiones de cantidad (a) few y (a) little hacen referencia a poca cantidad. El primer aspecto a resaltar es que (a) few se utiliza con sustantivos contables (que
tienen plural) y se traduce como (unos/as) pocos/as; (a) little se utiliza con sustantivos incontables (que no tienen plural) y se traduce como poco/a.
La segunda diferencia est relacionada con la presencia o no del artculo indefinido. A few tiene un valor positivo y significa poca cantidad, pero suficiente; few tiene
un valor negativo y significa poca cantidad e insuficiente:

I have a few friends (Tengo unos pocos/cuantos amigos) // I have few friends (Tengo pocos amigos)
Lo mismo para a little y little, pero con sustantivos incontables:
I have a little money (Tengo poco/algo de dinero) I have little money (Tengo poco dinero).
