Analysis Paper

Even in a movie where there are so many downsides, a character can still

change. In the movie Hunt For The Wilder people Rickey Baker changes dramatically.

Rickey Baker is a dynamic character because in the beginning, Rickey was careless

and close-minded but towards the end, he gained respect for others and himself.

In the beginning of the movie, Rickey was not open-minded. Ricky would run

away from his foster home all the time. He did not care at all whether he would get in

trouble or not because he tried to run away. He also thought that he wouldnt find a

family that actually cared about him, and that he was going to juvie again. Sometimes

he would do things that shows that hes careless the way he acted. He would run away

every morning just to get away from people. He would also not talk to show he doesnt

care. Toward the end Ricky became more open minded by having more hope to find a

new family. Ricky was being close-minded by starting to give up on finding a new

family and not ending up in juvie. Not only was Rickey close-minded, but he had no

respect for himself as well as for others.

In the beginning, Rickey showed no respect towards others, or himself. Ricky

would disrespect himself, Hec and others all the time. He would always answer Hec in a

rude way when he would tell him to do something, or even just simply talk to him. He

would also casually joke around with him in a rude way. Ricky was showing disrespect

towards himself and Hec by giving up on himself, which causes him to act rudely

towards Hec. Not only was Rickey showing disrespect towards Hec, but he was also

careless.
 lastly, the way Ricky was very careless. In the beginning of the movie, Ricky was

clearly careless. He did not want to talk , or interact with anyone. But throughout the

movie, Hec was going through a lot, and when Hec insisted he would go back to foster

care, Ricky refused and said he wants to stay with Hec. Also throughout the movie,

Ricky started caring more about himself by realizing that he isnt as useless as he

thinks, and that he has hope for a new family. Throughout the movie, Ricky has

changed to become a more caring person not only for other people, but for himself as

well.

In conclusion, if your life has a down side then you can change it like Ricky Baker

did. There are two doors in your life and its either you making your life better or you

ruining it. In Hunt For The Wilder People Ricky clearly changes his life to be better

throughout the movie.
