Title: One Punch man and Newtons third Law of Motion

Purpose:
To show that the action and reaction are equal by using a spring scale, and thus proving
Newtons Third Law

Hypothesis:
If we punch a mitt, then the force of a mitt will react back equally, and thus the reference point of
the spring scale will be back where it started not pass not before.

Theoretical Background:
According to the Newtons third law. Action is equal to reaction. Law: For any force acting on
any object there will be an equal and opposite direction reaction force.

Material and Equipment:

- Spring scale
- 10 bath
- Humans fist
- A mitt

Procedure
1. Insert 10 baht into the machine, this allows you to pull the mitt down and would be able to punch
it.
2. Attach the spring scale to the chain above the mitt, and the other end to something that is not
fixed (e.g a hand)
3. Each person will punch the mitt, and the spring scale will measure the force that we punched
the mitt.
4. Write the amount of the force of each person that punched the mitt into the data table.

Data Table:
Name Punched force The Mitts reaction force

Results: Whether or not the action is equal to the reaction force

Discussion Questions:
1. Is the magnitudes of the action and reaction forces equal? How does this prove Newtons Third
Law?

2. What were some of the things that could have possibly gone wrong and affected the results of
the experiment?

3. Can we make the action and reaction forces magnitudes unequal? Why or why not?
