"Personalities".Theyalsohaveverydifferentqualificationsforentry.Perhapsthefirst
questionforapotentialmilitarycareerseekeriswhichservicetheycanactuallygetinto.
TheArmy(andMarineCorps?)hasdifficultphysicalstandardsthatmustbemetfor
entry.Ifyouarephysicallyfit,andhappilyrun5milesbeforebreakfasttheseservices
mightappealtoyou.Youwillappealtothem.Ifyouaremoreofabookwormandcan
barelyrun100yardstheAirForcewillbeabetterfitforyou.WhenIwasintheUSAF
(1970's)theyjustdidn'tcareverymuchaboutyourphysicalconditionunlessyouhadone
ofthosereallyrarejobswhereitmatters.Pilotsandotheraircrewmembersneedtobefit.
Folkswhogototheofficeinthemorningandarehomefordinnereverynightmerelyneed
tobehealthy.
Whiletherearealotofdifferentjobsineachservice,theAirForceandtoalesserdegree
theNavyaremoreinterestedingeekysortsofpeople.Themainlinesofinterestinthese
servicesrelatetoincrediblycomplicatedpiecesofequipment,theiruse,andmaintenance.

However,IthinktheAmericanpeoplewillnottolerateanymajormilitaryusageinforeign

typeofjobintoanotherthatdidn'tseemallthatclosetotheprimarycareerfieldwithout

no.Well,notforthemilitary.Igetontheplane,bucklemybeltandenjoyanicecocktail
asthemoviecomeson.Butotherthanthat,notsomuch.Eachoftheservicesarepretty
wellthesamewhenitcomestowhatjobsareoffered,butrankplaysmoreofaroleinthe
typesofjobsbetweenservices.TheAFallowsthetheenlistedsidetoparticipateinjobs
thattheMarinesmaynot.Idobelievethishastodowithhowthetroopsaretrainedand
thebeliefsofwhatcoretrainingneedstobe.
AnotherpointisthattheArmyandMarineslearnmorecombatskillsfirstpriortomoving
ontoatechnicalcareerfield.IcantellyouformycombattrainingIfiredaM16andan
M9onafewoccasionsinmycareer,buthandtohandcombatwasnotpartofit.Ihave
noideahowtotakesomeoneoutwithmyhandsandthefrequencyofweaponstraining
