This lesson plan is about teaching students to identify parallelograms and trapezoids, and calculate their areas using formulas. It will begin with a review of prior knowledge on shapes and their properties. New concepts like the properties of parallelograms and trapezoids will be introduced. Students will practice drawing the shapes and solving example problems to find areas. Formative assessments will check understanding along the way. By the end of the lesson, students should be able to identify parallelograms and trapezoids, and use the appropriate formulas to calculate their areas.

What is parallelogram They will be able to find the area of a parallelogram
and Trapezoids? and trapezoids. How do they look like? Use formula to find the area of parallelograms given its base and height Use a formula to find the area of a trapezoid, given its bases and height.
Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies
15 min Beginning the Lesson:
Devotion( short prayer) Recall Prior Knowledge by asking them questions Identify rectangle, square, Parallelograms, trapezoids, and rhombuses by drawing them on the board
Developing the Lesson:
20 min Let students draw them on their own and tell them to compare with the partner's drawing and see how different they are from each other.( Checking students work) Let them know the properties of parallelogram and trapezoids.( This can help students to solve problems later) Check for understanding by asking questions to the students. You may ask some smart students to volunteer and explain it to the class. Now, find the area of parallelogram. Show and solve it on the white board and let students ask questions if they dont understand. For trapezoids also, make sure they know the properties and then give them formula. Then show the example of finding an area of trapezoids on the white board. (Make sure students do not have problem identifying the base of the trapezoid. Ask some students to volunteer and solve some problems on the white board. While doing this the teacher may go to the desk of the weak students and volunteer them and check for understanding. 10 min
Closing the Lesson:
1. Review and ask question for checking an understanding 2. Give students Homework from their Math textbook(Exercise 10.2)
