Experiment 6: Simulation of double pipe heat exchanger (UNISIM)
a) Benzene is cooled from 141 to 79 in the pipe of a double-pipe exchanger.
Cooling water flows counter currently to the benzene, entering the jacket at 65
and leaving at 75 . The exchanger consists of an inner pipe of in.BWG 16
copper tubing jacketed with 1 in.Schedule 40 steel pipe. The linear velocity of
the benzene is 5 . Neglecting the resistance of the wall and scale films and
assuming >150 for both pipes. Compute the film coefficients of the benzene and
water and the overall coefficients based on outside area of the inner pipe by
using UNISIM.
b) Simulate the following set of differential equations that describe isothermal CSTR
by ODE45 method using MATLAB
