INTRODUCTION:

Present situation is the era of technology, the technology of VLSI chips has made the
use of field analysis packages due to cost effective in engineering design environment.
In 1970s FEA is included in electrical engineering, at first it is used for the main
purpose of machine design.
During the same year FEA programmes were developed for the design of
electromagnetic apparatus.
In the recent years finite element method and finite difference methods are
extensively being used for magnetic field solutions.
In 1990s the finite element programmes are integrated into CAD packages.
CAD emphasis more on the user friendly and menu driven commands.
During the recent years it is made popular by addition of colour graphic monitors with
intelligent terminals have made the use of FEA based CAD packages.
The CAD packages may relieve the design engineers from the analysis of machine to
next era of design optimization.
What is exactly needed in machines; in machines we are in need of increased power
density, improved reliability of operation, effective utilization of materials and
optimization for that magnetic materials are taken in to considerations?
But by the CAD packages it is made very easy.
This CAD packages helps the machine design to refine many existing designs and
improve some new once.
The finite element method has become a powerful tool for the numerical solution of a
wide range of engineering problems.
Applications ranges from deformation and stress analysis of automobiles, aircrafts to
field analysis of heat flux, fluid flow, magnetic flux and etc.,
The commercial and the higher end of usage are in aerospace science.
With the advancement of computer technology, CAD systems, complex problems can
be modeled with relative ease.
