Maximum Marks: 100

This document has three parts. Part I carries 25 marks, Part II carries 50 marks, and

your analysis.

Part I

A friend of yours, who is great fan of American football but has never studied law, recently read an article
about renowned former American footballer O. J. Simpson. The article stated that O. J. Simpson was
acquitted after a lengthy criminal trial against him in the Los Angeles County, California Superior Court,
on two counts of murder following the death of his former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend
Ronald Goldman, but in a subsequent civil suit filed by both the Brown and Goldman families,
O. J. Simpson was held liable for damages for the wrongful death of Ronald Goldman and battery of Nicole
Brown Simpson. Your friend is a bit puzzled about how two such cases could have been separately
initiated against O. J. Simpson in relation to the same matter. Based on your understanding derived from
the knowledge of law, write a short note explaining the situation in a manner that your friend is no longer
puzzled or confused about what went on in this case.

Your note should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, and single spaced. It has a
limit of one page. Going beyond this limit shall be penalized in the grading.

Part II

In his Presidential Address, delivered at the Annual Session of the All-India Muslim League at Allahabad
on December 29, 1930, Allama Muhammad Iqbal stated, To my mind, a unitary form of government is
simply unthinkable in a self-governing India. What is called residuary powers must be left entirely to
self-governing States, with the Central Federal State exercising only those powers which are expressly
vested in it... Kindly analyze how this concept has been reflected, and has evolved, in our countrys
system of governance under the present Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan from its enactment
in 1973 until now.

Your analysis should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, and single spaced. It has
a limit of two pages. Going beyond this limit shall be penalized in the grading.

Part III

Your client, the renowned singer Alamgir, wishes to appoint as his agent for all dealings with music
recording companies, his minor fourteen-year-old son Jahangir. On the basis of your understanding of the

appointment would be legally valid, and, if so, then what matters Alamgir should be aware of in terms of
how the law would treat such an appointment.

Your note should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, and single spaced. It has a
