Once we started clicking the shortcut to autocad we shall find the following win
dow which consists of four icons and an option to choose the measure (Metric or
English). We always leave the option active measure and concentrate on the first
2 icons on the left: Open and New. Open (first icon on the left), new (second i
con from the left. Whoever is selected in the picture) If we click the first ico
n will open a list of jobs stored and double click on one of those work will ope
n the selected drawing. If you select New and then Ok. We will be drawing sheet
to start working, as shown in the picture below.
3
Before you start drawing define some data. There are basically two options for a
utocad drawing with the first one is using the icons located on the toolbar and
the second is the use of commands from the terminal window located at the bottom
of autocad. (Next Figure)
In our case we will do everything possible through the icons as although not the
fastest way to work is easier.
4
How to draw a line.
For this we click the line and move the mouse to where we want to do it again st
ay click the drawn line. Now suppose we want to make a line in autocad but to so
me extent. In this case we have three forms of work (with absolute values, with
values and with values polar rectangular) absolute turn to select the line icon,
we click on the screen and directly write the two values separated by "," This
we draw a line from where we click to the point x, and indicated as the first in
put value X and second Y polar values by clicking the online icon and write X @
distance, distance Y. Ex @ 100.100, this means that from where did we draw a lin
e click to 100 units x 100 units of rectangular Securities and clicking on the i
con line and is written X @ distance <angle. Ex @ 100.45, that we draw a line fr
om a long distance of 100 to 45 degrees (note this does not mean it is moved 100
units in X this indicates that the hypotenuse of the triangle with respect to i
maginary axis has a length of 100)
How to Draw a Circle
To draw a circle icon, click the circle and again we have three ways to draw
The first is to click to select the center and move the mouse and click (in whic
h there is no measure) for Radio Select the center click to select the center an
d then write directly to the radio for the center diameter can click Select to e
nter the Enter to point D and then enter the diameter.
How to Draw a Bow
To draw an arc icon is selected and we arc again several options The first is to
select the end point of the initial O and then after selecting the icon of Arc
CE writing center, then the starting point of the bow and there will two options
or income for more than an angle indicating the angle of destination or L indic
ating the distance we enter the arc.
5
Selection Process
To select an object is clicked from the outside of one end of the object and mov
e the mouse towards the opposite end of the object always leaving the whole obje
ct selection within the square and click again. Note is considered subject to al
l the elements that are drawn.
Moving an object
It makes the selection process followed by the icon to do this altar that we sho
uld choose a reference point on the object to the motion, to select the point yo
u click. Then move the mouse and click again where the object is fixed. Or after
selecting the icon to move and take the reference point you can move a certain
distance given by X @ distance, distance and movement is also valid for absolute
values and rectangular.
Copy an object.
It makes the selection process followed by the icon is chosen reference point an
d proceeds to move the mouse or the distance to where the copy should be. Whethe
r using X @ distance, distance Y, rectangular or absolute values
How to Delete an object
It makes the selection process followed by the icon will disappear. and selected
items
Rotation of an object
To rotate an object must first select it by following the selection process foll
owed by the icon to open it to choose a point on the object to reference the cen
ter of rotation to select the point you click, and entered by keyboard directly
to a number which will be number of degrees to rotate the object.
6
Crop an Object
Suppose I have two lines which intersect (Fig. below)
and I want to eliminate some piece of upper right line for this I do the followi
ng: I click on the icon (trim) then select the line that I'm NOT going to cut (t
his line must intercept that if I cut will fail otherwise ) then press the right
mouse button and choose the line you want to delete by clicking on it. Click to
make the line disappear leaving the drawing as follows
7
Creating Parallel Objects.
Now suppose that would make a line parallel to the girl within a certain distanc
e to do this select the icon then enter the offset distance and select the line,
and we click on that side want the line that is parallel.
Chamfered
If you would like to make a chamfle in a corner with 2 lines should do the follo
wing.
8
I click the icon entry chamfer distance fate keyboard then press Enter, then cli
ck again on the same icon. select the first line I click the second line after I
click and I generate the chamfleado as we shall see in the picture below.
9
Rounded
I click the icon on the radio income rounded keypad, then press Enter, then clic
k again on the same icon. select the first line I click the second line after I
click and I generate the round as we see in the picture below.
10
Creating Layers
A layer is another line that I want to distinguish in the drawing, an example mi
ght be the dimensions, the axes, the auxiliary lines and the drawing itself. Eac
h layer has the cap acidic able to hide and re-view, print ey protect against de
letion.
to create a new layer I click the second icon from the left of the previous grap
h which when I run the following window (next graph)
from there by clicking the new put the name to the next layer, to change the col
or only color I click on and choose the color you need. Or if I click on the col
umn linetype I change the line type. After I press Ok.
Ocular / Protect Switch Layers and layers
conceal or protect the first layers I click the down arrow on the menu, the list
I will layer in use and disagreement to the item you click will protect or conc
eals the different layers
11
If the lock will protect the layer, in the case of light conceals the layer and
in the case of the sun, momentarily desactivare layer, the printer will not let
you print. Returning to click the same icon that resume its original function. I
f layer protects a padlock is closed, if I see a layer by clicking the icon will
turn off light.
To change the layer only on the menu I select the layer you want to use
Asides
In order to delimit a piece must first enable the toolbar of the dimensions to d
o this we will do the following:
we click on View then Toolbars and select another Dimesion what we enabled this
toolbar to narrow.
12
then close and we will stay the toolbar heights which we can put in some margin
of the screen. To restrict a piece simply select the icon corresponding levels (
either for angles, diameters, radius or straight) and then we click on each item
. Once done this will tell how far we want the height using X @ distance, distan
ce Y.

Keyboard Commands
Autocad commands are useful for quickly working quickly and efficiently. This al
so allows us to maximize screen space acquiring a growing area for drawing.
