ENGLISH FOR ORAL COMMUNICATION

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen and to all the chairperson of the club associate.
The way we treat our children directly impacts what they believe themselves, a
beautiful quotes from Ariadne Brilt. Friends, toastmasters provide an excellent
opportunity to become leaders to create a path for fellow members to follow. Today, Im
going to talk about Should parenting classes be compulsory. How many of you
wants to be a great parents, but do not attend parenting class? How many of you here take
new year resolution but do not follow them? How many of you all have personal goals
on your children to build a wonderful life in future? In next 10 minutes, you are going to
learn simple techniques to achieve your goals faster. Parenting is one of the most tasks
in routine life, if we are not tired, then were not doing it right. Because, nowadays the
most significant problems is Good parents but Bad parenting. Are you going to be one
of them?

First of all, what is parenting classes? Why its very important classes to all parents?
When need to attend this class? And last but not least how be able to handle parenting
issues. Here Im going to explain step by step very well. Parenting classes are courses
taken by parents to support them in the care of their children. Particularly, these classes
for learn parenting in different methods of caregiving. By attending these courses can
gain more benefits of the children that can only make parents more involved, disciplined
and concentrate on what is best for their families. Certain courses may be mandatory by
court system due to abuse or neglect, but some parents feel like wants to assistance in a
particular area. Actually it may not be that they all bad parents, but they just need to
become skilled in alternative parenting styles. For example, parents will learn how to
communicate effectively with their children. Communication is most important for
parents to be able to communicate openly and effectively with their children. Open,
effective communication benefits not only between parents and their children, but also
every member of the family. Parents when communicate effectively with their children,
let them realize that we love and accept them.

Another point is, as I said by focusing this classes parents will be able to learn more
typical styles as well as stress management techniques to help parents stay calm, cool and
in self-control about parenting. Parents should communicate with their children by
appreciate them; dont ever discourage them while we talk to them because children may
set-up thinking that their wants and needs are not important. As people say, we must
teach children discipline because its important to respond when they misbehave, and
when they behave well. For instance, some parents are too strict, and they use of violence
and child abuse. In fact, parents can follow some best techniques for disciplining them at
home with calm, peace and quiet. Parents should not handle them in improper ways as
not spank, hit, or slap a child of any age because they will only feel the pain of the hit. Of
course, parents may allow to punish them, but in physical punishment. Parenting classes
will have some techniques to assist them in their situation.

Instead, these classes not only teach parents about manage children issues, also may help
you feel more confident and in control as a parent. On the other hand, as said by Ahrons
(1994), parents need to develop a limited partnership so that they can be a co-parent.
Co parenting is especially for divorce parents arranged by court-ordered and single
mother. However, this class only focusing on parenting after separation or divorce to
overcome extremely difficult pain from the past or ex relationship. Compared with,
parenting and co-parenting classes, co-parenting classes is mandatory because its not
only a solution to solve parenting issues also the best ways to ensure their children to
meet and they able to maintain close relationships with both parents. By attending this
co-parenting class is not about feelings, or those of their ex-spouse, but more than about
their own childs happiness, stability, and future well-being. For example, separated
parents should recognize co-parenting challenges and making changes of parenting
styles, while share or joint parenting about caregiving and needs of their own children.
Naturally, not an easy thing to achieve for couples who've run into marital issues, but we
have to follow the methods of co-parenting to make sure our children as they develop
their personalities and they be mature physically and emotionally.

Apart from that, psychologically well-defined about 3 basic parenting style such as,
Authoritarian, Permissive and Authoritative parenting style (Baumrind, 1960). What are
the different in between this 3 particular parenting? Let me explain Authoritarian
parenting is too strict and force the children in many rules to live up to high standard of
proper behavior. Its a good way to handle children, but low responsiveness towards
children. Permissive parenting is too soft and strongly believes in an independence of
their kids and always would treat them as equals. These kinds of parenting are not good,
but high responsiveness. Last but not least, Authoritative parenting style is mix of two
parenting style as I state above. They were parenting in strict ways, but also supportive
and understanding in their childrens point of view. If parents follow in authoritative
parenting is just about perfect ways because they are balance in own needs of controls
and also what childrens need for independence. For example, when a child picks up their
toys after he or she plays, parents can let them know that they appreciate it by saying
something like, Mommy really appreciate it when you pick up your toys without being
told. When communicate with our children, parents should be careful of what they say
and how they say it. If we communicate encouragingly with our children the way to raise
a nice child, is to be a nice adult.

Finally, end of my speech I will make sure that parenting is very important to all children.
To the world you are one person, but to your child you are the world! make their world
beautiful and fill it with lots of love. If deciding to take a parenting class doesn't mean
you all a bad parent. It shows that care more about your family and also future of your
children. Being a good parent means loving your children more than youve ever loved
yourself. Parents should try to send positive message to their children, communicate
effectively, and teach them good things, understand and boosts them in their position.
Parenting isnt a practice learn from class, its a daily learning experience. Parents should
be a best role model to your children, let your children follow your example, not your
advice. Thank you very much for your kind attention.
