I offer thanks to You,

living and eternal King,
for You have mercifully restored my soul within me;
Your faithfulness is great.

We thank you God for giving us the gift of Festivals for joy and holidays
for happiness, among them this day of Passover, the festival of our liberation,
a day of sacred assembly recalling the Exodus from Egypt

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has kept us
in life, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this season.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified
us with His laws and commanded us to eat bitter herbs.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who sustains the
entire world with goodness, grace, loving kindness, and
compassion. He gives bread to all, for His grace is
everlasting. And in His great goodness we have never lacked
anything and we will never be deprived of food for the sake of
His great name. For He is God who provides for all and does
good for all and prepares food for all His creatures that He
created. Blessed are You, Lord, who provides for all.

God and God of our ancestors, may You remember us on

this day of Passover to bless us with kindness and mercy for
a life of peace and happiness.

We pray that He who establishes peace in the heavens grant

peace for us, for all Israel, and all of mankind, and let us
say, Amen.

Psalm 135

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures for
ever. O give thanks unto the God of gods, for His mercy endures for ever.
O give thanks unto the Lord of lords, for His mercy endures for ever.
To Him who alone doeth great wonders, for His mercy endures for ever.
To Him that by understanding made the heavens, for His mercy endures
for ever.
To Him that spread forth the earth above the waters, for His mercy endures
for ever.
To Him that made great lights, for His mercy endures for ever;
The sun to rule by day, for His mercy endures for ever;
The moon and stars to rule by night, for His mercy endures for ever.
To Him that smote Egypt in their first-born, for His mercy endures for ever;
And brought out Israel from among them, for His mercy endures for ever;
With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, for His mercy endures
for ever.
To Him who divided the Red Sea in sunder, for His mercy endures for
ever; And made Israel to pass through the midst of it, for His mercy
endures for ever;
But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea, for His mercy endures
for ever.
To Him that led His people through the wilderness, for His mercy endures
for ever.
To Him that smote great kings; for His mercy endures for ever;
And slew mighty kings, for His mercy endures for ever.
(like) Sihon king of the Amorites, for His mercy endures for ever;
And Og king of Bashan, for His mercy endures for ever;
And gave their land for a heritage, for His mercy endures for ever;
Even a heritage unto Israel His servant, for His mercy endures for
ever. Who remembered us in our low estate, for His mercy endures
for ever;
And hath delivered us from our adversaries, for His mercy endures for
ever. Who giveth food to all flesh, for His mercy endures for ever.
O give thanks unto the God of heaven, for His mercy endures for ever.
"I give thanks before You, Living and Eternal King, that You have returned within me my soul with
compassion; [how] abundant is Your faithfulness!"

: "My God, the soul You have given me is pure. You created it, You formed it, and You breathed it into
me. [and You guard it while it is within me, and one day You will take it from me, and restore it to me
in the time to come. As long as the soul is within me, I will thank You, HaShem my God and God of
my ancestors, Master of all works, Lord of all souls. Blessed are You, LORD, who restores souls to
lifeless bodies]."

Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the universe, who restores the eyes of the blind

"Bless, (O) my soul, the LORD. LORD my God, You are very great; glory and majesty have You worn
Who dons light as a garment, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain."

"How precious is your kindness, [O] God! People take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They are
sated from the abundance of Your house, and from the stream of Your delights You give them to drink.
For with You is the source of life; by Your light shall we see light. Extend Your kindness to those who
know You, and Your righteousness to the upright of heart."

"And I will betroth you to Myself for ever; I will betroth you to Myself in righteousness, and in
justice, and in lovingkindness, and in compassion. And I will betroth you to Myself in faithfulness; and
you shall know the LORD."

"Blessed are You, LORD our God, King of the universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth."

upon the unworthy, and has bestowed upon me every goodness."

Throughout all generations we will render thanks unto Thee

And declare Thy praise,
Evening, morning, and noon,
For our lives which are in Thy care,
For our souls which are in Thy keeping
For thy miracles which we witness daily,
And for Thy wondrous deeds and blessings toward us at all times.

fulfilling his/her dreams of healing,
strengthening him/her with the power of life.
Merciful one,
restore him/her, heal him/her,
strengthen him/her, enliven him/her.
Send him/her a complete healing
from the heavenly realm, a healing of body
and a healing of soul, together with all who
are ill soon, speedily, without delay;
and let us say: Amen!

Strengthen me, Holy One,

on my journey through illness;
Steady my steps on this difficult path.
Bring me through signposts
of remedies and therapies,
Secure in Your guidance
as I face these changes
You are my Strength and my Hope,
The Author of my healing.
You are my Promise and my Courage,
Guiding my helpers as I move toward healing.
Guard the encouragement
of simple improvements,
Every day praising Your loving concern.
Make me Your partner, Divine Physician,
Restoring me for Your Names sake.

I am scared, God. I feel vulnerable.

I dont like feeling helpless.
I am worried. So before my surgery I pray:
I place my body and soul in Your hands.
Please watch over me, God, in the operating
room. Stay beside me. Never leave me.
Strengthen my will to live. Enlighten my
doctors and nurses with the skill, wisdom and
insight to mend and cure me properly. Let this
procedure go smoothly without complication.
Watch over my loved ones who are worrying
about me now. Remind me that I am
resilient. That I can and will grow stronger
each day. Bless me, God, with Your healing
power, protect me from all harm, shield me
from pain. And when I wake, God, give me the
courage and passion to fight for the sacred
treasure You have granted me: my life. Amen.
From Talking
My God and God of all generations,
in my great need I pour out my heart to You.
The long days and weeks of suffering
are hard to endure.
In my struggle, I reach out for the help that
only You can give. Let me feel that You are
near, and that Your care enfolds me.
Rouse in me the strength to overcome my
weakness, and brighten my spirit with the
assurance of Your love.
Make me grateful for the care and concern
that are expended on my behalf.
Help me to sustain the hopes of my dear ones,
as they strive to strengthen
and encourage me.
May the healing power You have placed
within me give me strength to recover,
so that I may proclaim with all my being:
I shall not die, but live and declare
the works of God.

Do not cast me off in time of old age; when

my strength fails, do not forsake me.
From Psalm 71:9

Prayer for Good Health

Blessed are You, the Lord our God,

King of the Universe,
Who fashioned man with wisdom
And created within him many openings and cavities.

It is obvious and known before Your Throne of Glory

That if but one of them were to be ruptured,
Or but one of them were to be blocked
It would be impossible to survive and stand before You.

In the merit of my appreciation for Your wondrous works,

May You grant me good health and long life.

Prayer for the Sick

Almighty, Master of the Universe,
my God and the God of my forefathers:

May it be Your Will that You speedily send

a complete recovery from Heaven,
a healing of the body and a
healing of the spirit to:

[the name of the person]

the son/daughter of
[the person's mother's name]

amongst all of the sick of

the Children of Israel.

Prayer for Livelihood

It is You, the Lord our G-d,

Who nourishes, sustains, and supports
every living creature.

Provide me with my allotment of bread,

and bring forth food for me
and all members of my household
before I have need for it.

May we be supported
in contentment but not in pain, in a
permissible but not a forbidden manner,
in honor but not in disgrace,
for life and for peace.

May we be supported
from the flow of blessing and success,
and from the flow of the Heavenly spring,
so that I will be able to do Your will,
engage in Your Torah,
and fulfill Your commandments.

Make me not dependent on the generosity of other people.

And may there be fulfilled in me the verse that states, "You open up Your hand and satisfy
the desire of every living thing" (Psalms 145:16).
And also the verse that states,
"Cast Your burden upon God
and He will support you" (Psalms 55:23).

Psalm 100

Call out to the Almighty

Everyone on earth!
Serve God with gladness.
Come before Him with joyous song!

Know that the Almighty, He is God.

It is He who made us and we are His,
His nation and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving.

Enter His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

The Almighty is good.

His loving-kindness endures forever.
And His faithfulness continues
From generation to generation.

Prayer for a Safe Journey

May it be Your will, God, that You lead us toward peace, and make us reach our desired
destination in life, gladness and peace.
May you rescue us from the hand of
every foe, ambush, bandits and
evil animals along the way,
and from all manner of punishments
that assemble to come to earth.

May you send blessing in our every handiwork, and grant us grace, kindness and mercy in
Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us.

May you hear the sound of our supplication

Because You are God who hears prayers.

Prayer for the Jewish People

May He who blessed our forefathers

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
Bless every holy congregation,
The men, women, sons, daughters
And all that is theirs.

May He bless those who

Dedicate synagogues for prayer
And those who enter them to pray,
Those who give lamps of illumination,
Wine for Kiddush and Havdalah,
Bread for guests, charity for the poor,
And all who faithfully
work for the needs of the community.

May the Almighty reward them

And remove from them all afflictions.
May He heal their bodies,
Forgive their mistakes,
And send them blessing and success
For their every endeavor,
Along with the entire Jewish People.

"Shema Yisrael"

"Hear O Israel"
The Shema is the Jewish national "pledge of allegiance" - the testimony of belief in One God.
Traditionally, it is said three times a day - morning, evening, and before going to sleep. When
the time comes to leave this world, the Jew aspires to have the Shema as the parting words
on his lips - a final affirmation of belief, trust, and love of God.

Hear, O Israel, the Lord is our God,

The Lord is One.

Blessed is the name of His glorious kingdom

Forever and ever.

And you shall love the Lord your God,

With all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your possessions.
And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart.

And you shall teach them to your children

And speak of them when you sit in your home,
When you walk up the way,
When you lie down and when you rise up.

And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand
And they shall be Tefillin between your eyes.
And you shall write them
On the doorposts of your homes
And upon your gates.

our life with his commandments, commanding us to study Torah. May

I am a Jew because Judaism demands no abdication of my mind.
I am a Jew because Judaism asks every possible sacrifce of my s
oul.
I am a Jew because whenever there are tears and suffering the J
ew weeps.
I am a Jew because whenever the cry of despair is heard the Jew
hopes.
I am a Jew because the message of Judaism is the oldest and th
e newest.
I am a Jew because the promise of Judaism is a universal promi
se. I am a Jew because, for the Jew, the world is not fnished;
human beings will complete it.
I am a Jew because, for the Jew, humanity is not full
y created;
people are creating it.
I am a Jew because Judaism places humanity abo
ve nations and above Judaism itself.
I am a Jew because, above humanity, Judaism places the Oneness of God.

Baruch Sheamar Ve Haya Olam

Blessed is the One who spoke and the world
came into being. Let us always remember the
power of the spoken word. Everlasting is the
word that heals.
Stinging is the scornful word.
Soothing is the word of true emotion.
Even the word of infants can reach the heavens.
Dreams begin with words.
In our voice we find the power to create the world anew.
Simply listening to the others voice is the greatest blessing we can offer.
Too often we choose not to speak when we must.
Help us oh Lord to speak only when it is helpful.
Eloquence is a matter of subject when we speak on your behalf.
Open our ears to your blessing.
Never are we alone in your blessing
Enter our hearts through your blessing.

TEACH ME TO PRAISE
Teach me, my God, to praise and to pray
For the mystery of the withered leaf,
For the glow of the ripened fruit;
For the freedom to see, to feel,
To breathe, to know, to hope, to stumble.
Teach my lips a blessing, a hymn of praise,
As you renew each morning and each night;
Lest this day appear as yesterday
And the day beforeLest
my day become routine.

Psalm 17, You Are a Consolation(Adapted)

O God,
You are a consolation to Your creatures,
for in moments of forgetting
we but call to mind Your care,
and we are comforted.
When we hope no more,
a pattern in the snow
reminds us of Your lovingkindness.
Your dawns give us confidence,
and sleep is a friend.
Our sorrows dissipate
in the presence of an infants smile,
and our Elders wise words
revive our willtowish.
Your hints are everywhere,
Your signals in the most remote of places.
You are here,
and we fail words to say,
Mah Tov!
How good our breath,
our rushing energies,
our silences of love.
by Danny Siegel
Psalm 121 a song of ascent: (Adapted)
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
What is the source of my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Maker of the heavens and the earth.
God will not allow you to stumble,
Your Guardian will not slumber.
Indeed, the Guardian of Israel
neither slumbers nor sleeps.
The Lord is your Guardian,
your shelter at your side.
The sun will not smite you by day
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will guard you against all evil;
God will guard you, body and soul.
The Lord will guard your going out
and your coming home, now and forever.
by Danny Siegel

Lord, praise be to You for the rhythm.

We praise You for the beat of sound,
the beat of the heart,
the beat of the drums.
We praise You for the clapping hands,
the tapping of toes,
the snapping of fingers and
the nod of the head.
We praise You for the jumping of rope,
for the skipping, hopping, running
and walking.
We praise You for the rhythm of seasons,
for hot noons and cool nights,
for the sunset and the sunrise,
for the new moon and the half moon.
We praise You for the rhythm of
the cycles of the seasons,
the cycles of the engines,
the cycles of the octaves,
the cycles of the seed, and
the cycles of the spirit.
Lord, we praise You for birth and rebirth,
for childhood and parenthood,
for life and life to come.

For these we give thanks

O God, to whom we come so often with needs to be
satisfied, we come to You now in gratitude for what we
already have and are.
For gifts beyond deserving or counting, we give thanks.
You have given us the ability to become more than we
have been, the urge to be more than we are, and a
gnawing hunger to attain heights only dimly imagined.
For the power to grow, we give thanks.
You have endowed us with the capacity to discern the
difference between right and wrong; and You have
enabled us to follow the right, to avoid the wrong.
For the power to choose, we give thanks.
You have blessed us with the ability to fashion things of
beauty, to sing new songs, to spin new tales, to add to
the treasurehouse of human civilization.
For the power to create, we give thanks.
You have equipped us with the yearning to commune with
You, to bring You our fears and our dreams, our hurts and
our joys, our guilt and our gratitude; to share hopes and
concerns with You and with others.

For the power to pray, we give thanks.

You have fortified us with the ability to rise above
disappointment and failure, to go on after we have been
bruised and bereaved, to refuse to submit to defeat and
despair.
For the power to hope, we give thanks.
You have enlarged us with the ability to cherish others, to
make their lives as dear to us as our very own, to share
their hopes, to feel their hurts, to know their hearts.
For the power to love, we give thanks.
You have ennobled us with the strength to overcome our
faults, to mend our ways, and to answer the summons to
turn to You with all our heart and soul.
For the possibilities of renewal, we give thanks!
How fitting it is to praise You,
In poem, in song, in melody.
You perform so many wonders,
O God who lives eternally.

All praise to You eternal Source of all blessin

g. You
created the light and the darkness too. And
in all that You
fashioned there is order and harmony.
13
God, where shall I find
Thee, whose glory
fills the universe?
Behold I find Thee
wharever the mind is
free to follow its own
bent,
Wharever words
come out from
the depths of
truth,
Wharever tireless striving
stretches its arms towards perfection,
Wharever men and
women struggle for
freedom and right,
Wharever the scientist toils
to unbare the secrets of
nature,
Wharever the poet strings pearls
of beauty in lyric lines,
Wharever glorious deeds are done.

To Fashion Holiness
O God Show us how to fashion holiness from waste,
Discovering sparks in the broken shells of people beaten
down by
circumstance and mired in the boredom of hollowness.
Teach us to take the neutral substance of reality and
create the sublime, forming shapes of blessings with a
sacred touch.
Instruct us in sympathy, so we may learn to tear away at
hopelessness and the groan and oy of despair by stories,
jokes, and astonishing embraces.
Remove shallowness from our lives and destroy
senselessness, that we may discover Your plan and fulfill
Your purposes.
Give us insight and vision, and we will perform signs and
wonders in the sight of all humanity as You Yourself once did in
the Land of Egypt and at Sinai.
Show us Life in all its glory, and we will glorify Your name,
here and now, everywhere and forever.

Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God, the Lord is

One Blessed be His name;
His glorious kingdom is forever and ever.
