 SITUTATION

Panpacific University North Philippines (PUNP) is one of the

biggest university located in pangasinan. The institution offers

different courses which includes four branch of engineering, namely

Civil, Computer, Electrical, and Electronics and Communications

Engineering.

Sadly, the passing rate of civil engineering for the past years

is significantly dropping. Thus, the researcher decided to conduct an

action research to determine if having a poor reading and problem

analysis comprehension skill is one of the factors that affects the

performance of the students.

RATIONALE OF THE STUDY

On this action research, the researcher aims to measure the level

of reading and problem analysis comprehension skill of the civil

engineering students of PUNP. As well as to formulate a recommendation

to answer the said problem.

To gather the data needed, the researcher will conduct a survey

to present civil engineering students of PUNP (2016-2017).

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. What is the level of reading comprehension of PUNP civil

engineering students?
2. What is the level of problem analysis comprehension of PUNP civil

engineering students?
3. What is the significant relationship of reading and problem

analysis comprehension skill?

4. What proposed measures can be applied to satisfy the

underlying arguments?
