Good day!
On 22 February 2017, a letter of intent addressed to the Commission was filed by Mr.
Christian Dy, incumbent SOSS school representative of the Central Assembly, to form a
coalition known as BUKS.
On 3 March 2017, BUKS filed to become a coalition.
It is the Commissions great pleasure to announce that, after due review of the
submitted documentation, BUKS is now an official coalition of the Ateneo de Manila
University. As per the Provisionally Approved Electoral Code of 2016, coalitions are defined
as temporary alliances for campaign purposes among candidates (Article III, Section 1).
Its validity lasts until the end of the campaign period (Article III, Section 7). Registered
coalitions may share campaign materials as well as corresponding costs and call for mass
actions (Article III, Section 1ab).
Coalitions are subject to the same election rules and guidelines as independent
candidates or candidates of political parties as prescribed by the 2016 Constitution, the
Provisionally Approved Electoral Code of 2016, the Campaign Manual, and any Commission
resolution.
