 Coin Vend Interface

The coin vend interface for the MX-M182D/202D/232D machines is located on the MCU PWB.
Before connecting a third party auditor, the device must conform to the following specifications:

1. The auditor interface should be optically isolated from the copier.

2. The external auditor interface should be Power Supply Unit independent.
3. supply.
4. The external auditing devices plug-top adapter should have a reinforced insulation
barrier.
5. The external auditing device must hold a CE mark.

To enable coin vend function, execute Simulation 26-03 and select Vendor Control (set value to
1).
During duplex copy mode, the interface will issue 2 billing pulses for each duplex copy
irrespective of the size of the paper used (e.g. an A4 duplex copy will generate 2 billing pulses
and an A3 duplex copy will also generate 2 billing pulses). In order for the external auditing
device to detect the selected paper size, the paper size outputs on pins 1 to 4 must also be
used.
Note: The configuration of the external auditor connector (CN133) may differ slightly from that of
other models, so it is important to ensure that the correct cable/connections are used.

 Product Key Registration

MX-PK10 Postscript Level 3 kit

With the above option, you should receive an operation manual. The front of the operation
manual details a unique code which when registered, provides an activation key which unlocks
the Postscript function within the device.

Procedure
1. Make a note of the Machine Serial number upon which the option is to be installed.

2. Make a note of the application number from the front of the MX-PK10 operation manual.

3. Access the following URL, with the username and password indicated.

5. Register the MX-PK10 by completing the following web form

The Machine serial number must be entered in the serial number of engine field
(Do not enter the MX-NB12 serial number).

Note: When inputting the data, please ensure that the prefix letter of the application
number is entered in UPPERCASE.

6. Click Submit. The product activation key will be displayed and an Email also containing
the information will be sent to the address provided on the form.

7. Open the web page of the MX-NB12 by entering the IP address and click Admin Mode,
followed by Product Key Setting.

8. From the dropdown menu, select Postscript and enter the product key and click Submit.

9. Power cycle the copier.

10. To confirm the MX-PK10 is activated, re-enter the IP address of the MX-NB12 into the
web browser and click Device Configuration.

The MX-PK10 should be listed under Software options installed.

MX-PK10 activation is now complete.

 Firmware Upgrade Procedure

In preparation for downloading new firmware to a MX-M182D, 202D or 232D it is necessary to

install a USB driver on the PC to allow the transfer of the firmware file from PC to MFP.

Once the driver has been installed it will then be possible to connect to the MFP using the
Integrated Maintenance (Download) Programme.

Note: The USB driver does not need to be installed each time the Maintenance Programme is
required.

USB Driver Installation Procedure

The following procedure describes the installation of the USB driver onto a PC running the
Microsoft Windows XP operating system.

1. Put the MFP into Download Mode by entering Simulation 49-01

2. Connect an A to B type usb cable between the PC and the MFP USB 1.1 port as shown
below.

3. Start Windows, the Found new hardware wizard will identify Download as a new device.

4. If the wizard requests to connect to Windows Update, select No, not this time. Click Next
to continue.

5. Select Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

6. Ensure the Search for the best drivers in these locations button is selected and that the
Include this location in the search is the only checkbox ticked.

7. Click Browse and select the required folder that contains the correct USB driver for the
operating system being used.

8. Click Next and then Finish to complete the driver installation. If the driver is not digitally
signed, click Continue anyway.

9. To check the installation of the USB driver was completed successfully, open Control
Panel and then System:-

Click the Hardware and then Device Manager Tabs and expand Universal Serial Bus
controllers. Confirm that the Maintenance Tool Generic USB driver is listed. The USB
device driver installation is now complete; it will now be possible to run the Maintenance
Programme.

 Firmware Upgrade Procedure

MX-M182D/202D/232D Engine Firmware:

Requirements:

o PC with USB Port using a compatible Windows OS (Windows

98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/7)

o USB A to B type cable

o USB Driver installed as per previous page

o Integrated Maintenance Tool & Firmware file.

Procedure:

1. Put the MFP into download mode (Simulation 49-01).

2. Connect the USB cable between the PC and the MFP USB 1.1 port.

3. Launch the Integrated Maintenance tool (Version 04.20 or higher) and select the MX-
M160/200 series and click on Select.

4. Expand the Simulation Command List and double click Download DWL Data Area from
within the Special folder.

5. Browse to the location of the new firmware file (*.dwl) and click open to start the firmware
download.

6. Once the transfer of the firmware is complete, the Download is Complete window should
appear. Click OK.

7. When Download Complete is displayed on the copier panel, power off the machine and
remove the USB cable.

8. Power on the machine and check the firmware version in Simulation 22-14.

The MX-M160D/200D firmware update is now complete.

 Firmware Upgrade Procedure

MX-NB12 Network Expansion Kit

Requirements:

USB Memory device (Formatted with FAT or FAT32)

MX-NB12 Firmware

Note: Never insert a USB memory device containing MX-NB12 firmware (*.brn) before powering
on the machine.

Procedure:

o Copy the MX-NB12 firmware onto the root directory of a USB memory device

o Power on the MFP

o After approximately 30 seconds, (Time taken for the NB12 to boot up) insert the USB
memory device into the USB Device Port on the MX-NB12 as shown below.

o Enter Test Command 49-02

o "Download mode" is displayed on the operation panel display.

o "Do not turn the power off." is displayed, and downloading of the firmware is started.

Note: During execution of the simulation, do not perform a key operation of the operation
panel.

o When downloading is completed, "Processing is finished. Turn off the power." is

displayed.

o Turn off the power to the machine

o Remove the USB memory device

Updating of the MX-NB12 is now complete

 MX-NB12 IP Address Setting

Set the IP address of the machine in the system settings.

A. Enabling/disabling DHCP

This is used to set Enable/Disable of DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). When it is
set to Enable, the IP address is automatically acquired from the DHCP server, allowing
connection to the network without manual input of the IP address.

B. Setting the IP address automatically

When the DHCP is set to Enable, the IP address of the machine can be checked by the following
operation.

1) Turn the machine power off and then back on.

2) Select the IP address setting with the network setting of the system setting at DHCP Enable.
The IP address, the sub net mask, and the default gateway assigned automatically to the
machine can be checked.
Note:If DHCP is used, the IP address assigned to the machine may change automatically. If the
IP address changes, printing will not be possible.

C. Setting/changing the ip address manually

Perform the following procedure to use a fixed IP address.

Enter the IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

When you have completed all settings, press the [OK] key.

The settings will be saved after the message "Your setting will be valid after you power down and
then restart the copier." disappears.

Turn off the machine power, wait for a few seconds, and then turn on the power again.

The new settings will take effect after the power is turned on.

Note: It is also possible to change the device IP settings via the MX-NB12 web page.

 Test Simulation

1.Entering the simulation mode

Perform the following procedure to enter the simulation mode.

2.Canceling the simulation mode

When the clear all key is pressed, the simulation mode is cancelled.
When the interruption key is pressed, the process is interrupted and the screen returns to the sub
code entering display.

*After cancelling the simulation mode, be sure to turn OFF/ON the power and check the
operation.

Note: If the machine is terminated by a jam error or paper empty during copying in the
adjustment by the simulation, recopying is required.

Note: The values in the simulation columns are not default values but sample values.
