LITURGY OF THE WORD

READINGS:
First Reading: (Zec 2:14-17)
A Reading from the book of the prophet Zechariah

Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell

among you, says the Lord. Many nations shall join
themselves to the Lord on that day, and they shall be His
people, and He shall dwell among you, and you shall know
that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. The Lord will
possess Judah as His own portion in the holy land and He
will again choose Jerusalem. Silence, o mankind, in the
presence of the Lord! For He stirs forth from His holy
dwelling.
The Word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm: (to be sung)

Second Reading: (Heb 5:7-9)
A Reading from the letter to the Hebrews

In the days when Christ was in the flesh, He offered prayers

and supplications with loud cries and tears to God, who was
able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of
His reverence. Son though He was, He learned obedience
from what He suffered; and when perfected, He became the
source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him.
The Word of the Lord.

ALLELUIA:

Happy are you, O Blessed Virgin Mary;

Without dying you won the martyrs crown beside the
cross of the Lord, Alleluia!

GOSPEL: (Jn 19:25-27)

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint John

Near the cross of Jesus there stood His mother, His mothers
sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. Seeing
His mother there with the disciple whom He loved, Jesus
said to His mother, Woman, there is your Son. I turn, He
said to the disciple, There is your mother. From that hour
onward, the disciple took her into His care.
The Gospel of the Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL:

Bishop: In the spirit of humility and docility of the Blessed

Virgin, let us now lift up to God, the almighty Father, our
fervent prayers and supplications for ourselves and the
entire church. For every petition, let our response be:

LORD, MAKE US WORTHY TO BE YOUR TEMPLE.

Leader: For the church, the people of God, that through

their example and pastoral leadership, the Pope, the Bishops
and the priests zealously and faithfully guide her in
following the will of God like Mary did. Let us pray to the
Lord. Response.

LORD, MAKE US WORTHY TO BE YOUR TEMPLE.

Leader: For our beloved country, that our government

leaders may turn away from their selfish ambitions and
sinful lifestyles, and strive to implement programs that will
bring lasting peace and meaningful economic progress for
the people, especially the poor.
Let us pray to the Lord.

LORD, MAKE US WORTHY TO BE YOUR TEMPLE.

Leader: For all our people who are suffering due to the
present economic crisis, that they may not anymore rely on
the promises of dishonest politicians and unscrupulous
businessmen, but rather may they find new hope and
strength in their own God-given talents to help themselves
and others. Let us pray to the Lord.
LORD, MAKE US WORTHY TO BE YOUR TEMPLE.

Leader: for the priests who are entrusted with the pastoral
care of the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, that God may
imbue them with the true spirit of holiness, apostolic zeal for
souls and humble obedience and docility to the will of God so
that they become living witnesses that will inspire genuine
devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let pray to the Lord.

LORD, MAKE US WORTHY TO BE YOUR TEMPLE.

Leader: For the lay leaders of our parish, the members of

the Pastoral Council, parish organizations and ministries
and the BECs and all our parishioners, that the true Marian

virtues and teachings the Blessed Mother so that they
become effective instruments for the spread of the Good
News and the salvation of souls. Let us pray to the Lord.

LORD, MAKE US WORTHY TO BE YOUR TEMPLE.

Leaders: let us also pray for the priests who have served us
in the past, Msgr. Manny Sebastian, Msgr. Felipe Ocol and
Fr. Mike Lagrimas, that through the prayers of Mary, they
may enjoy Gods constant help and protection and always
remain faithful in the service of the church. Let us pray to
the Lord.

LORD, MAKE US WORTHY TO BE YOUR TEMPLE.

eternal glory and happiness in His kingdom. Let us pray to
the Lord.
