SUBSTRUCTURE

EXCAVATION AND EARTHWORK (All Provisional)

Clear site to remove grasses, bush, shrubs and grubbing up their root including disposal

Excavate over site average 150mm deep to remove vegetable top soil

Excavate trench for foundation commencing from stripped level maximum depth not exceeding 1.00mm

Ditto pit for column base -do-

Backfill excavated materials around foundations

Remove surplus excavated material from site

Level and compact bottom of excavation to receive concrete.

Bed of approved Laterite filling well rammed and consolidated in layers to make up level (average depth of 600mm)

200mm Bed of approved hardcore filling with and including 40mm sand blinding spread and levelled and consolidated

Dieldrex' anti-termite solution to bottom and sides of excavation

CONCRETE WORK

Plain in-situ concrete

50mm thick Blinding plain in situ concrete (1:10) under column base

150mm thick plain insitu concrete (1:3:6/38mm aggregate) in Foundation footing

Reinforced In-Situ Concrete (1:2:4-20mm aggregate) filled into formwork and packed around reinforcement (both
measured separately ) in:
Column bases

Columns over 0.05 but not exceeding 0.10 square metre sectional area

High yield reinforcement to B.S. 4449 described including bends, hooks, tying wire, distance blocks or ordinary spacers.

12mm diameter bars in column base.

10mm diameter bars in isolated column.

FABRIC REINFORCEMENT

BRC mesh fabric reinforcement to B.S 1221 with 150mm end and sides laps laid on concrete slab well lapped at joint
and intersection. (measured net with no allowance made for laps

FORMWORK

Sawn formwork to:

Vertical sides of column bases

Edge of slab 150mm high

Steps 150mm high

BLOCKWORK

Hollow Sandcrete blockwork in cement mortar (1:6) filled solid with lean concrete 91:4:8) mix in:

150mm Wall

One layer 500mm guage polythene damp proof membrane laid on hardcore

Allow a provisional sum of 5,000.00 for additional work in substructure to be expended as directed by project engineer
