LESSON PLAN

Subject: Agricultural Crops (TLE8)

I. Learning Objective
The learner demonstrates an understanding of estimation and basic calculation.
Answer the problems involving area of triangle, square and rectangle.
Apply what they have learned in real life situation.
II. LEARNING TASK
o SUBJECT MATTER: Calculation of Area
o REFERENCES: Agricultural Crops Teacher Guide Pages 7-8 ;
Agricultural Crops Learning Module Pages 41-45
o MATERIALS: Cartolina, Pentelpen, Chalk,
o VALUE FOCUS: Awareness of students about calculation of surface area

III. Concepts/Processes/Skills/Content

Area
Formulas
o Area for Rectangle and Square = l * w
o Area for Triangle = 0.5 * b * h
IV. Procedure
A. Prayer
B. Checking of Attendance
C. Introduction (Motivation, Advance Organizer, Focusing/ Discrepant Event)
Introducing Mr. Minion, a farmer facing a problem about knowing the total area of his farm.
Posting a picture of his Farm plot of corn, tomato and cabbage.
D. Sequence of Activities (Collaborative Discussion)
Prerequisite Skills
Knowing the definition of Area. Asking the students about their prior knowledge about
area.

Teacher Demonstrations/Activities,
Students Activities
Illustrations, Directions
Asking students to describe the farm The shape of the plot for tomato is
plot. square, for corn is triangle and for
cabbage is rectangle.

TOMATO CORN

Introducing the formula in calculating

the area for triangle, square and
rectangle, where : CABBAGE
ATRIANGLE = 0.5 * B * H
ASQUARE = L * W
ARECTANGLE = L * W

Calculating the area for Mr. Minions

Farm plot using the given formula.
W = 10m
Asking the students to solve it on the
board.
TOMATO
L = 10m
ASQUARE = L * W
10 * 10
ASQUARE = 100m2

H = 10m
CORN
B = 10m

ATRIANGLE = 0.5 * B * H
0.5 * 10 * 10
ATRIANGLE = 50m2

W = 10m
CABBAGE

L = 20m

ARECTANGLE = L * W
10 * 20
ARECTANGLE = 200m2

No, because Mr. Minions wanted to know

the total area of his farm.
Now that we have computed the area for corn,
tomato and cabbage. Do you think that we
have finally solve Mr. Minions problem?

Ok! Very Good!

Student A:
ATOMATO = 100m2
So , Do you have any idea on how were going ACORN = 50m2
to solve for the total area of his farm? ARECTANGLE = 200m2

Thats right! 100 + 50 + 200 = 350 m2

In order for us to solve for the total area of his
farm , we just simply need to add the area for
corn, area for tomato and area of the farm plot The total area of Mr.Minions farm is
for cabbage. 350m2

So now, Who can try to solve for the total area

of Mr. Minions farm on the board?
