Hazing/Bullying Policy

Throughout involvement in my program, an athlete will not put down

another athlete by making them feel inferior or incompetent by way of name
calling or physical harm. Bullying is defined as using physical strength or
words to make another person feel inferior, physically touching someone, or
making them uncomfortable. This issue will be addressed on the first day of
involvement in my program, and should not become an issue with any
athletes in my program. A two-strike tolerance policy applies to bullying in
my program. If an athlete informs a coach or school official that they are
being bullied and are being made to feel inadequate, the issue will be dealt
with immediately. The offending athlete will be asked to leave the program
for the day, and may return the following day with a verbal apology to the
team and to the athlete that was harmed. If the athlete is accused and found
to be at fault for the same infraction a second time, the athlete will be
dismissed from the program. Bullying and hazing are serious issues, and I
intend to create a culture which values people and does not turn to bullying
or hazing in any setting.
