Materials you will need
Yarn: DK/worsted:
Black (about 120 yds) and
White (about 50 yds)
Scraps of your choice colour for
scarf and knitted piece
Pair 8mm black plastic toy eyes
Small scrap flesh coloured felt to
surround eyes
2 cocktail sticks or toothpicks
2 small beads to fit end of cocktail
sticks
Stuffing Option 1:
- plastic filler bead
- 6 inch diameter circular piece of
thin fabric to put beads in
Stuffing Option 2: dry beans
Stuffing
Needles sizes:
Larger needles 4mm (UK 8 – US 6)
Smaller needles 3mm (UK 11 - US 3)
Animal needles 2.25mm (UK 13 – US 1)
Abbreviations
k. knit
p. purl
st st. stockinette stitch (k right
side rows, p wrong side rows)
inc. Increase by knitting into
front and back of same stitch
k2tog. Knit next two stitches
together
p2tog. Purl next two stitches
together
st/sts. Stitch/stitches
Seed stitch:
Repeat these 2 rows:

Second row. [p1, k1] to end

ARE GLUED IN
BODY (two parts main and base)
To be worked beginning at the base going towards the head.
Main: Using larger needles and white cast on 30sts
Work seed stitch for 24 rows.
Row 25: Seed st for 9 sts,( k2tog, p2tog) 3 times, seed st for last 9 sts(24st)
Row 26: seed st
Row 27: seed st for 6 st. (k2tog, p2tog) 3 times, seed st for 6sts (18st)
Row 28: seed st
Row 29: K2tog to end of row (9sts)
Draw yarn through remaining 9 stitches – break yarn but do not fasten off.
Body base:
Using larger needles and white cast on 4 sts.
Row 1 and all wrong side rows: Purl across
Row 2: inc. in every stitch to end of row (8sts)
Row 4: (K1, inc 1)to end of row (12sts)
Row 6: Knit across
Row 8:( K1, k2tog) to end of row (8sts)
Row 10: K2tog to end (4sts)
Bind off.
Head:
You will start at the nose and work towards the back of the head.
Using smaller needles and black cast on 6 sts
Row 1 and most wrong side rows: Purl across
Row 2: inc into every stitch to end (12sts)
Row 4: Knit across
Row 6: (k1, inc 1) to end of row (18sts)
Row 8: Knit across
Row 10: k3, (inc) twice k8, (inc) twice, k3 (22sts)
Row 12: Knit across
Row 14: k9 (inc) four times, k9 (26st)
Row 16: Knit across
Row 18: (k1, k2tog) to last 2sts k2 (18sts)
Row 20: (k1, k2tog) to end (12sts)
Row 22: (k2tog) to end of row (6sts)
Draw yarn through these 6 remaining sts.
