1 Scope
1.1 This standard identifies acceptable manufacturers and 9COM material numbers
for Process Automation Systems.
1.2 This standard does not apply to the purchase of spare or replacement parts for
Process Automation Systems components.
2.1 All conflicts between this standard and other applicable Saudi Aramco
Engineering Standards (SAESs), Materials System Specifications (SAMSSs),
Standard Drawings (SASDs), or industry standards, codes, and forms shall be
resolved in writing by the Company or Buyer Representative through Manager,
Process & Control Systems Department, Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.
2.2 Direct all requests to deviate from this standard in writing to the Company or
Buyer Representative, who shall follow internal company procedure SAEP-302
and forward such requests to the Manager, Process & Control Systems
Department, Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.
3 References
The selection of material and equipment, and the design, construction, maintenance, and
repair of equipment and facilities covered by this standard shall comply with the latest
edition of the references listed below, unless otherwise noted.

4 Definitions
Terms shown in bold font within this document are defined below:
9COM: Is a material number used within the SAP system to represent a particular
category of equipment or Commodity Number.
Manufacturer: The company that manufactures the system or equipment. The owner
of the brand name of the equipment.
Regulated Vendor List: A Regulated Vendor List (RVL) constitutes the exclusive list
of vendors and their associated product lines qualified to provide the applicable class of
process automation equipment to Saudi Aramco. Regulated Vendor Lists for Process
Automation Systems are prepared in accordance with procedures defined in SAEP-15.
SAP: Saudi Aramco corporate computer system that includes the approved
manufacturers for each 9COM.
Vendor: The Company who is the manufacturer of the system or equipment, also
referred to as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
5 General
5.1 Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), Remote Terminal Units
(RTU), Terminal Management Systems (TMS), Compressor Control Systems

(CCS) and Leak Detection Systems (LDS) are RVL commodities and must be
procured under the 9COMs listed in Section 6 of this standard.
5.2 Approved vendors for PAS RVL commodities covered in the scope of this
document are listed within the Saudi Aramco SAP system.
5.3 P&CSD evaluates and approves specific systems and revision levels for each
RVL material covered under the scope of this document. The latest approved
system and revision level is listed in the limitations section in SAP for each
approved vendor (Q-info). Only the specific systems and revision levels listed
in SAP are approved for use in Saudi Aramco.
5.4 For Capital Projects, Saudi Aramco Project Management Team (SAPMT) shall
ensure that all automation equipment proposed by RVL manufacturers and / or
LSTK contractors has been evaluated by P&CSD and approved for use in Saudi
Aramco.

Note: The same 9COM is used for Programmable ESD Indoor and Outdoor.
ESD systems approved for outdoor use are rated for continuous operation at
higher ambient temperatures. Only systems listed in SAP as suitable for
outdoor environment shall be installed outdoors. Consult the SAP limitations
field for details on which systems are approved for use outdoors. Examples of
outdoor use include systems installed under sunshades or installed in passively
or actively cooled shelters.
