4 Definitions

Terms shown in bold font within this document are defined below:

9COM: Is a material number used within the SAP system to represent a particular
category of equipment or Commodity Number.

Approval: Written authorization by the Manager, Process & Control Systems

Department, Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.

Manufacturer: The company that manufactures the system or equipment. The owner
of the brand name of the equipment.

P&CSD: Process & Control Systems Department, Saudi Aramco

Regulated Vendor List: A Regulated Vendor List (RVL) constitutes the exclusive list
of vendors and their associated product lines qualified to provide the applicable class of
process automation equipment to Saudi Aramco. Regulated Vendor Lists for Process
Automation Systems are prepared in accordance with procedures defined in SAEP-15.

SAP: Saudi Aramco corporate computer system that includes the approved
manufacturers for each 9COM.

Supplier: The person/company etc. who is responsible to provide the equipment to

Saudi Aramco.

Vendor: The Company who is the manufacturer of the system or equipment, also
referred to as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

5 General

5.1 Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), Remote Terminal Units
(RTU), Terminal Management Systems (TMS), Compressor Control Systems

(CCS) and Leak Detection Systems (LDS) are RVL commodities and must be
procured under the 9COMs listed in Section 6 of this standard.

5.2 Approved vendors for PAS RVL commodities covered in the scope of this
document are listed within the Saudi Aramco SAP system.

5.3 P&CSD evaluates and approves specific systems and revision levels for each
RVL material covered under the scope of this document. The latest approved
system and revision level is listed in the limitations section in SAP for each
approved vendor (Q-info). Only the specific systems and revision levels listed
in SAP are approved for use in Saudi Aramco.

5.4 For Capital Projects, Saudi Aramco Project Management Team (SAPMT) shall
ensure that all automation equipment proposed by RVL manufacturers and / or
LSTK contractors has been evaluated by P&CSD and approved for use in Saudi
Aramco.
