The magazine cover page is specifically
aimed at college students. I know this due
to the direct address in the masthead
College. I imagine the age group is 16-21,
as not may kinds below 16 would buy and
read magazines. Then I reckon the simple
content would not be admired for students
over 21. The gender is mixed as it is aimed
for all students.
The main image is in correlation to the
masthead and target audience College
Students, I know this due to the Masthead
being College, the age of model being
aged around 18, and he is also holding
school books.
The house colours used I think are very
appropriate to its youthful college students. Black and yellow have worked very
well as the yellow contrasts the dark black. This makes the text catch the
audiences attention. I also believe this vibrant colour is associated with young
audiences who are into bright colours.
In this graph, you can see the graph of collected data I received from a
Questionnaire. My results show that the age of
audience is either 16-21 like those that I
imagined, or specially 16-19.
Also 75% of results how that the gender is mixed.
The 25% which selected male I imagine is purely
die to the male main picture.

Sans Serif text is used on both magazines, which

again reinforces the target audience, as the
rounded font is more associated to informal
relaxed style of magazine. There is very simple lexis used on both which implies
its intended for a young student and not for a university student. We can see I
direct relationship between the image and the text there are small articles with
dialogue about Campus and College Culture.
All of the people I sent my questionnaire too are aged between 17-19 (my class-
mates). This is very beneficial as they are all currently college students I can ask
them specifically if they like the styles and tones, because they fall into the
bracket of target audience.
Results were split 50/50 on them Yes liking the style & tone of magazine or
Slightly.

The narrative and content all relate to the genre of magazine, which is
college/education. The different topics and sub headings such as College
Campus, The Worlds Sprint Factory, relate to college interests and informative
topics.
Both main images were middle third, which attracts your attention. They have
large, bold mast heads with detailed strap lines. But I think that my magazines
have too many cover lines, and too many words for a cover page which fills up
the page.
The caption to the Masthead is Lifestyle which just correlates to the different
topics in the magazine, which are on informative college topics, and the lifestyle
aspects of it such as the campuss.

The results show that the audience of the magazine is
for a middle class audience. Typically, students fall into
a lower class/middle class category. I believe the
reason all of my results say middle class is due to that,
he is well smart clothing as well as a chain accessory
so we know he is not poor. In addition, a lower class
youth may not be as interested in reading magazines
and learning in their free time, so they have aimed
there audience at middle class.

Due to phrases such as Thank God its Friday

and lexis like SPLAT!, I believe that the
linguistics and formality is informal, which is
fairly appropriate for a the teenager college
student, as they may be more accustom to
reading informal language.
Excessive uses of exclamation marks NEGRIL
GONE WILD! also reinforces my concept of it
being informal. The author has also replaced
some linguistics with sympbols such as &
instead of and.
My results agree 100% with my opinion that
the mode of address and linguistics are
informal.
(Error with the graph, the rating was
out of 5 not 10)
Following up my last question, I
decided to ask how highly they believe
the creator has matched the chosen
informality.
Which all surveys graded 5/5 for
successfully creating an informal cover
page.
All of the

After my previous question, I thought I would be

interesting to see if my questionnaire repliers
would agree that the tone is relevant to the age
group. Which I am happy to see the majority did
answer yes (75%). This makes my results more
reliable.
