Objective/Profile/Summary of Skills:
Describe your current work objective. This tells potential employers the sort of work you
are hoping to do. Be specific about the job you want, using those Power Words (See
Resum Tips) to ensure that you make the impression you want to make. This objective
should be customized for each employer and for each job you apply to. This objective,
and the rest of the resum, should be written in third person do not use I, me, or
my.
Education: If you are a recent student or graduate, list your grade point
average only if it is over 75% (grade point 3 out of 4 or higher).
Experience: Employers are most interested in what you did recently. If you
have a long career history, emphasize your experience most
relevant to the posting. If your early career is important to your
current goal, mention the experience without going into the details.
For example: Early Career: Council of London, London, England -
- Town Planner 1, May 1990- December 1993.
If you have held more than one position with the same employer,
make sure the employment period for each position is clear.
There is no need to explain why you left the position. If you are
applying for an engineering position, and are working towards
your professional classification, list the month you started and
completed each position.

Use key words to describe what you have done. You can
identify these key words by looking through the job description.
They might be key tasks, responsibilities, or training which the
employer is looking for. If you have done these tasks, or
performed these responsibilities, make this very obvious to the
reader. Do not assume the employer will know what you have
done in your position. For example, if the employer is looking for
a financial analyst, and you have done financial analysis within
your job duties, financial analysis might be one of priority points at
the beginning of your work description.
