THE HEALING POWER OF KINDNESS

Volume One: Releasing Judgment
The idea for this book originated with a talk given at the end of a week-long
class on sickness and healing. The teaching staff was struck by the paradox of
students on the one hand spending a week discussing healing, in terms of forgive-
ness and undoing separation, and on the other, fervently practicing judgment and
condemnation on each otherdirectly opposite to the kind, gentle tone of Jesus
message of undoing separation. Kindness reflects our inherent oneness with each
other, while attack and judgment drive us still further apart in our awareness. It is
our hope that this discussion of the principles of sickness and healing and their
misapplication helps undo the sources of unkindness, so that in all our interac-
tions we would reflect the Source of kindness. May this little book serve to
remind us all of the need to be kind, the spiritual principle par excellence.

THE HEALING POWER OF KINDNESS

Volume Two: Forgiving Our Limitations
This second book on kindness centers on two statements of caution Jesus offers
in A Course in Miracles. Characteristic of his gentle guidance, he tells us not to
be disturbed by the shadows surrounding our little willingness to learn from
him, and not to despair because of our limitations. These cautions were the theme
of a workshop presented at our Center, the basis of this book. If we identify with
the ego, our limitations become cause for comparison and judgment, and thereby
impel us to seek ways to overcome the imperfections in our bodies and the world.
This focus serves the egos purpose of concealing the minds decision for guilt,
substituting a limited self for the unlimited Self of Christ. Identifying with the
loving Presence of the Holy Spirit in our right minds, we recognize our
self-defeating choice, thus allowing true correction to heal. We now look kindly
on our limitations, redefining them not as our reality but as shadows that fade in

WHO IS JESUS ? This 1999 focuses on our relationship with Jesus as our elder brother who helps us grow to
become like hima child, a man, and then a spirit. In recognizing our resistance to such growth and our childish
littleness, we invite Jesus to help us pass through the specific needs of childhood dependency to spiritual maturity,
and on to the non-specific Self we share with him. Thus do we, like Jesus, become elder brothers to the world.

JESUS : C OMPANION ON THE JOURNEY. Choosing Jesus as our companion helps us to understand the nature of
the journey, without which it is meaningless. We traveled from light to darkness, and then, with Jesus as our guide,
we return through darkness to the light that was always there. While our journey from the light was taken alone
with the ego, we return with our former special love and hate partners. Thus do we all return together to the light,
with the light, as the light.

JESUS
Songs of Gratitude and Love

The name Jesus is the Western worlds greatest symbol for the Love of
God, a Love that is reflected in this world but is not of it. As such it serves
as the correction for the worlds greatest symbol of separationthe body.
Calling on Jesus for help thus reflects the minds decision to choose
against the egos separation and the body as its defense, and for the Holy
Spirits Atonement, which brings light into our fevered dreams of hate and
death. Small wonder, then, that the worlds myth of Jesus has focused
almost exclusively on the physical, distorting his awakening from the egos
dream of death to mean the resurrection and glorification of the body, even
unto everlasting lifethe quasi-eternal life of the egos idolatrous
thought system of separation, in contrast to our true life in Heaven.
The theme running through this set is how the one who would only be brother to the world became the bitter
idol the world has made of him (C-5.5:7). The workshops thus aimed at restoring to our awareness the purpose of
Jesus worldly appearancesthen, and now in A Course in Miracleswhich was to symbolize for the dreaming
Sonship the love that created us and which we are: his the love we seek, and he the means by which we come to it
(W-pII.302.2:3).
Jesus: Songs of Gratitude and Love includes almost all of Kenneths recorded workshops on Jesus, including
excerpts from classes that specifically discussed him. Exceptions are the two longer sets: Jesus: Teacher of For-
giveness, Model of Resurrection (formerly entitled Jesus and the Message of Easter) and Jesus: The Manifestation
of the Holy Spiritthese can be purchased separately. Also included is a CD that contains a two-part introduction
to the set: 1) summarizing the egos conspiracy to subvert the true meaning of Jesus Atonement; and 2) Kenneth
speaking of his relationship with Jesusthe loving symbol of the journey that leads through the form of hell to the
formlessness of Heaven. Kenneth concludes his remarks by introducing the music of Beethoven that is heard
throughout the CDs.
These workshops, therefore, are songs of love and gratitude to the one who leads us home. In Beethovens
words, written above the score to his Missa Solemnis, the companion Mass to the Ninth Symphony:

EXCERPTS SERIES
Our next series of excerpts will be from our tape album Healing the Dream of Sickness, a workshop presented by Kenneth
in February 2002. After a review of the metaphysical basis of sickness and the body, the discussion develops the unique view
of A Course in Miracles that the source of all sickness, regardless of the form, is our unconscious belief in sin and guilt, not the
body or the world. Healing therefore centers on the removal of this cause through our looking without judgment at our decision
to push love away and then blame our plight on external sources. This lookingthe meaning of a relationship with Jesusis
the core of healing. These excerpts can be found at the Foundations Web site at www.facim.org.

To the ego, A Course in Miracles is a poison that would attack and then enslave us, for it teaches not only the opposite of what
the ego has taught, but emphasizes the insanity of its teachings. To the extent we identify with the egos thought system of sepa-
ration and specialness, we identify with its evaluation of the Course. Recognizing this resistance is the first step towards embrac-
ing forgiveness as our salvation. The five-day class will explore this issue in depth through lecture, discussion, and readings.

A-12 WALKING A R IGHT -M INDED PATH

Dates: December 5 7 Fee: $90.00
A-12D1 December 5 Fee: $30.00 A-12D2 December 6 Fee: $30.00 A-12D3 December 7 Fee: $30.00
The workbook tells us that love is the way we walk in gratitude (W-pI.195), and thus we journey home with gratitude for our
partners in forgiveness, and for our Teacher. This is A Course in Miracles right-minded path for leading us home, correcting the
egos thought system of separation and judgment. We shall explore both paths through discussion and readings, looking at the ego
through the Holy Spirits gentle eyes of forgiveness.

2005
A-1 P RISONER TO OUR E GO S ELVES
Dates: January 16 18 Fee: $90.00
A-1D1 January 16 Fee: $30.00 A-1D2 January 17 Fee: $30.00 A-1D3 January 18 Fee: $30.00
Identifying as bodies, we are inevitably imprisoned by victimizing forces beyond our control. Yet when we recognize salva-
tions secretwe are doing this unto ourselves (T-27.VIII.10:1)the prison door swings open and we are free. Forgiveness is
the Holy Spirits key that opens the prisons of our heart, allowing freedoms forgotten song to shine forth. Through discussion
and readings, the class will focus on unlocking the mind we had kept imprisoned to the truth, binding ourselves and the world.

A-2 O N TEACHING A C OURSE IN M IRACLES

Dates: February 13 15 Fee: $90.00
A-2D1 February 13 Fee: $30.00 A-2D2 February 14 Fee: $30.00 A-2D3 February 15 Fee: $30.00
Perhaps nowhere is the confusion of form and content more apparent than in the idea of teaching A Course in Miracles. Jesus,
however, states that to teach is to demonstrate (M-in.2:1). In other words, we teach the Courses principles of forgiveness by
living them, not by formal teaching. Since mind is everything and body but its projection, focusing on behavior distorts the
Courses message of mind change. Discussion of this important theme will be augmented by various readings.

ALL Academy 3 classes will be taught by Kenneth Wapnick.

A-3 T HE JOURNEY THROUGH FORM TO FORMLESSNESS
Dates: March 14 18 Fee: $150.00
A-3D1 March 14 Fee: $30.00 A-3D2 March 15 Fee: $30.00 A-3D3 March 16 Fee: $30.00
A-3D4 March 17 Fee: $30.00 A-3D5 March 18 Fee: $30.00
The journey without distance Jesus asks us to take with him involves forgiving our special relationshipsthe shadowy forms
that conceal the content of guilt. Without attention paid to these relationships, we can never forgive the minds guilt that is the prob-
lem. Only thenwith the forms and thought of guilt undonecan we complete the journey to the Formless. This five-day class,
including reading and discussion, will be a microcosm of our greater journey from form to formlessness.
