MANTECADITOS

(BUTTER COOKIE)
RECIPE

OVERVIEW
Mantecaditos are the Dominican equivalent of a shortbread cookie. Mantecaditos are a
favorite cookie around the Holidays in countries such as Puerto Rico, Dominican
Republic, Mexico, Spain, and Some countries in Africa.

INGREDIENTS
1. cup of granulated sugar

2. 2 cups of all purpose flour


3. cup of unsalted butter
4. cup of shortening, cold
5. teaspoon of vanilla extract
6. 1 teaspoon of almond extract
7. Pinch of salt

This recipe make about 2 dozen (24) cookies.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Pre-heat oven to 400
2. Grease your baking tray
3. With a mixer cream shortening and butter for about 2 minutes until
creamy and well combined
4. Add in sugar and milk and mix for 1 minute until creamy and fluffy
5. Add in salt, vanilla, and almond extract and mix until combined
6. With mixer on medium low add in flour of a cup at a time
7. Mix the dough until it is coarse but combined

8. Add tablespoon amounts of cookie dough onto the baking sheet
9. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes
10. Check after 10 minutes to see if the cookies are golden brown
11. The cookies are done cooking when the sides are golden brown
12. Place Cookie on cooling rack for 5-10 minutes
13. Serve warm on the plate of your choice

This recipe makes about 2 dozen (24) cookies
