Understanding Philippine Culture Through Literature
Unit Summary
Philippine culture topics: History of the Phils. Philippine Literature, society of the country past v.s present. Philippine
culture sub- topics: Philippine poems and songs before, during and after the war, Philippine allegories, products,
mythology, folklore and tourist spots.
A brief explanation of how the activities will help my students answer the Curriculum Framing Questions are, asking
them why learning a local culture is important, they will understand different Philippine ethnics more, what are their
learnings about this subject?
They will take part in activities such as retelling a chosen myth or legend, group poem recitation and making a Travel
Brochure.

Learning Objectives
Their will know, remember, and understand Philippine culture. They will love their own country more, show respect to
the other people from other regions, especially tribes. Students can evaluate and analyze the difference of the people
long time ago versus todays generation.
