EDUCATIONAL AND PHYSICAL CULTURE ASSOCIATION

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
PURPOSE:
Stimulate an interest in membership and an active participation in Sokol/Sokolice Milwaukee,
preserve our Czech heritage and meet the requirements to maintain the organizations nonprofit
status.
Provide financial assistance to members, their children or grandchildren or those who have
participated in Sokol/Sokolice activities and programs for a minimum of two (2) years for attendance
at a post-high school, accredited education institution. Two (2) scholarships may be granted each
year to any qualified applicants.
CATEGORY 1~$1,500:
A first time college student who is a Sokol/Sokolice Milwaukee member, the child or
grandchild of a member or an active participant in Sokol/Sokolice activities and programs.
50% grades; 10% school activities; 20% service; 20% participation in activities with
Sokol/Sokolice Milwaukee.
Three (3) character reference letters, a transcript of courses, a personal essay about oneself
and the chosen course of study and how it prepares one for the future.
The first half ($750) of the scholarship will be granted at the time of the award, and the
second half ($750) will be granted after completion of one (1) semester of schooling with a
grade point average of C or better.
CATEGORY 2~$2,000:
An enrolled student who has completed a minimum of one (1) year of college, who is an
active member of Sokol/Sokolice Milwaukee, the child or grandchild of a member or those
who have provided a minimum of two (2) years of service to Sokol/Sokolice Milwaukee
based on time available.
The application is to be submitted with a transcript of the last year of college credits and an
essay relating one of their Sokol/Sokolice experiences.
The first half ($1,000) of the scholarship will be granted at the time of the award, and the
second half ($1,000) will be granted after completion of another full semester with a grade of
C or better.

Previous recipients of the Category 2 Scholarship are not eligible to apply again.

Scholarship Recipient must attend designated meeting or luncheon to except scholarship in person.
