equipment and relevant supports, the Von Mises method or the maximum shear stress (Guest-Tresca)
criterion shall be used.

3.3 For horizontal equipment the stresses induced by the supports on the shell shall be checked in
accordance with the applicable Codes. In case the Codes dont cover this calculation L.P. Zick method

NOTES
1. All forces and moments in the above table are positive and 6. LOADING NOMENCLATURE
sign notation is as per WRC bulletin 107. Forces: Moments:
The most stringent case caused by axial load 'FA' acting FL=Longitudinal ML=Longitudinal
inward or outward shall be considered. FA=Axial MT=Torsional
2. The supplier shall ensure that all process nozzles shall be FC=Circumferential MC=Circumferential
suitable for the nozzle loads shown in the above table and
provide the necessary local calculations in accordance with 7. For spheres and heads
WRC bulletin 107 and ASME code. Resultant shear force: Resultant bending
3. All forces and moments act on the intersection of the moment:
axis with the mid-thickness of the shell or head plates F= ( FL +FC ) M= ( ML +MC )
4. The supplier shall notify the contractor of cases where calculations
require an increase in thickness of the reinforcing greater than
construction code and/or guide drawing mini.allowable thicknesses.
In such cases,if notified at the time of quotation, the standard
load may be reduced by the contractor upon written request
by the supplier.Such agreed specific load shall be indicated on the
equipment guide drawing.
5. All cost for the above reinforcement must be included in the
suppliers price.
