3 Childs need
Due to the childs religion he wasnt able to eat certain foods that were provided to children on
some days. For example they gave children a food that contained meat and he was given a
different meal which was a grilled cheese sandwich. He understood that he couldnt eat the other
food and he told me the sandwich was his special food. The child also had an allergy to peanuts
and because of that he was on a list with other children in the class that couldnt have any food
containing the ingredient. The child also engaged in outdoor play by running, kicking the balls,
and pedaling the tricycle. Social skills needs for the child included taking turns sharing materials
and in games. The cognitive needs were for the child to engage in pretend play.
The child would engage in conversations with different children during breakfast early in the
morning. He would greet his peers and the adults in the classroom as well. He engaged in
conversation by taking about personal experiences and what they did in the classroom the day
before. N.G also participated and followed directions in all the routines which included setting
up their plate and throwing it away when they were done eating. The songs for brushing teeth
and the circle time activities. During circle time he was one of the few children who knew the
letters in the alphabet out of order. He had to be told to not say the letters after a while because
he was the only one showing the ability to name the letters. He would still attempt to raise his
hand even after they told him to give the other children a change. After explaining to N.G that he
The childs strength were his ability to recognize all the letters in the alphabet in and out of order.
He was also able to complete the daily letter packet ahead of the other children with no mistakes.
He recognized the other childrens names and last names and also had a good understanding of
the site words. There was only one site word he wasnt able to name which was See. His
limitation was that he wasnt able to provide an example of how to use site words in sentences.
When called on he didnt like answering questions and would often stay quiet. He was also had
trouble pronouncing certain words and he would struggle to say them or pronounce them the
wrong way.
