Lesson aims:
A1: to practise and extend pupilssports vocabulary; (C1)
A2: to read fluently a text in English;( C2)
A3: to read for specific information; (C3)

Assumptions:
Ss have already learnt simple grammatical structures and lexical structures.
Ss are familiar with oral commands and classroom language.
Anticipated problems:
The Ss may find difficulty in speaking freely in English. The Ss may be afraid of making mistakes
when they speak in English.
Materials: books, notebooks; blackboard; hands out;
Skills involved: reading, speaking;
Class management: whole class activity; in groups;

ACTIVITY 1 Warm up
Aim: To raise Sss interest in the topic; Interaction Timing
Procedure:
1 Informal conversation, greetings T Ss 5 min
2 Check if the students are all attending the class; Ss T
3 Homework check

ACTIVITY 2 Lead in Interaction Timing


Aim: to speak freely on a given topic;
Procedure: T divides the whole class in five teams 1, 2,3, 4 and 5. T Ss 5 min
Ss try to guess what sport is this? They watch a video and try to Ss Ss
guess the right answer. Ss T
Teachers role: organizer, controller

ACTIVITY 3 Interaction Timing


Aim:
Procedure: to read fluently a text in English;( C1)
a. T gets the Ss to read the lesson silently. Each team is assigned a T Ss 20 min
certain text. Ss Ss

b. Ss try to explain to the others what sport or game their text is
about ( team 1 and 2 draw a picture; team 3 and 4 make a riddle
and team 5 mime the game);

Teachers role: organizer, controller, assessor, facilitator.

ACTIVITY 4 Interaction Timing


Aim: to read for specific information; (C2)

Procedure: T asks Ss to look at the handout they have been given Ss Ss 19 min
and do ex 1 and ex 2. Ss T
Teachers role: participant.

Final activity (homework 1 min.):


T gives Ss the homework: to read part 2 of the story and answer the questions
