Zoo Phonics (ELA)

Objective: To identify each capital letter by

name and each lower case letter by name and
sound(primarily).
Goal: To say and identify all 26 letters of the
alphabet (both capital and lower case) by
sound and name.
(K.RF.1)Demonstrate understanding of the organization and
basic features of print.
d. Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of
the alphabet.
Instructional input: Teacher will use hand
signals, cards and charts to help students
identify and say the name and sounds of each
letter of the alphabet. We use the capital
letters to say the names of the letters and the
lower case letters to say the sounds of each
letter.
Materials: Zoo phonics books, letters, cards,
charts and hand signals.
Checking for understanding: Does each
student correctly name, say the sound and do
the correct hand signal?
Differentiation: Depending on student,
asking for only one task only.
