MATHEMATICS IN EVERYDAY LIFE

Every subject contains information necessary to become a knowledgeable and functional

member of our society. As we become more technologically dependent, technical reasoning is
needed for survival. Mathematics is no longer just a subject taken by the elite. Now it has
rightfully become a staple in our educational systems even though it is not appreciated by many
people until it is needed. Those who do not appreciate math are those who do not understand
what math is all about. That is why the nature of math desperately needs to be explained. Simply
put, math is about solving problems.

To me, Mathematics is an essential tool that is crucial to understanding our environment; it gave
birth to advanced technological development, which has improved our quality of life.
Furthermore, Mathematics challenges us to think more diversely in order to introduce new
theoretical concepts that can be tested and applied to encourage the evolution of our numerical
and technical knowledge.

Everybody uses math whether they realize it or not. Shoppers use math to calculate change, tax,
and sales prices. Cooks use math to modify the amount a recipe will make. Vacationers use math
to find time of arrivals and departures to plan their trips. Even homeowners use math to
determine the cost of materials when doing projects.

There had been beautiful things, so as ugly things; there had been good people so as bad people;
there had been... the positive and negative aspects of life. And yes, one thing that balances the
easy living is the toughness and hardness of thinking mathematics and applying it into our daily
lives. That was one of the greatest roles of mathematics in our society; in our environment... to
BALANCE!
 MY MATH LEARNINGS

The study of math plays a very important role in our daily life. There are so many reasons why
mathematics is important to each and every one of us .Firstly; all subjects are linked with
mathematics like physics, chemistry and even biology. Secondly, mathematics is used in
architecture and designing. How can to achieve my aim/dream to be an engineer and accountant
someday? Thirdly, mathematics is used in all businesses like in banking, offices, workplaces etc.
All financial aspects of the businesses deal with mathematical concepts. Almost people who said
to themselves that they are stupid or dumb with mathematics. When they will hear the word
"MATH" they are thinking about themselves that they didn't know how, and they are being lazy
to understand it.

Mathematics is one of my favorite subject since in elementary and until now. There are so many
things that can be change in mathematics when you are already in grade 8, it will become harder
and it will need more patience for solving.

I have learned about understanding of key concepts and principles of algebra, geometry,
probability and statistics as applied, using appropriate technology, in critical thinking, problem
solving, reasoning, communicating, making connections, representations and decisions in real
life.

We must be proud that we have a teacher to teach us if there are things that we didn't know how,
we must understand, listen and respect them. When we talk about mathematics we must always
apply patience to ourselves so that we can get the right answers. Mathematics in our daily lives is
so important to us especially those people who had businesses to avoid bankruptcy in their
business. Mathematics is important in every aspect of our lives. MATHE
MA..TICS!!!

 PROBLEMS

In eight more years, Norhaifah's Mother will be three times as old as Norhaifah now. When
Norhaifah's present age is added to her Mother's present age, the total is 48. How old is each one
now?

SOLUTION:

Let N be Norhaifahs present age and M be her mothers present age.

Then, N + M = 48. Her mothers age 8 years from now is three times Norhaifahs age.

This gives us two equation with two variables:

N + M = 48
M + 8 = 3 (N)
Solving the first equation, We get N = 48 M, we plug it into second equation in place of N.
M + 8 = 3 (48 M)
M + 8 = 144 3M
3M + M = 144 8
4M = 136 then, divide both sides with 4.
M = 34

Since M stand for Mothers current age, then Mothers age is 34.
And since, N + M = 48, then Norhaifahs age now is 14.
