In a conclusion, capsules are solid dosage form of medication in which the
drug is enclosed in either a hard or soft soluble container or shell made of gelatin. The purpose of the experiment was to develop skills necessary to compound capsules, as well as being able in performing the necessary calculations for preparing this dosage form and analyze the application of binder in capsule preparation. The final product of capsule type obtained from this experimental procedure was the hard gelatin capsule. During the lab session, we have been exposed on the basic method in capsule preparation; what it is used for, what type of capsule needs to be produced and step- by-step taken into account before achieving the end product. Through this kind of exposure, students acquired a grasp of basic techniques and will be better able to adapt in order to prepare safe and uniform dosage forms in future. As for some recommendation, during the spray drying process, make sure that there is no precipitate because if so, the powder produce will be a little and making it hard in producing capsules. Be sure to stir constantly to avoid resulting in precipitation. Next, make sure the flow rate of spray dryer in a stable/constant condition, so that the drying time taken become shorter, so it is necessary to monitor the flow rate from time to time.
