leadershipand,mostimportantly,workingtogetherasateam.Allgirlsinterestedinplaying
softballthisseasonwillhaveanequalchancetomakeateam.Keepinmindthatbeinga
memberonthisteamisaprivilegeandplayersmustrecognizetheresponsibilities,
expectations,andbehaviorsthatgoalongwiththeirmembership.Youarenowofficially
committedtothisteam.Whetheryouarevarsity,juniorvarsity,thestarplayeroranonstarter,
youareapartofwhatmakesusaTEAM.Thebestpartofwhatmakesateamisthatnotevery
playeristhesame.Eachgirlhasherownsetsofstrengthsandweaknessesandwillplaya
differentrole.Ifwecaneachacceptandstaycommittedtothoseindividualroles,TOGETHER
wewillhavesuccess.Expectpositionstocontinuallychangebasedoneffort,ability,andwhatis
bestfortheteaminagivensituation.Wehopetomakethisseasononetoremember.

Themajorfocusatthislevelisondevelopingdeeperfundamentalandpositionalskills
andtoincreaseknowledgeandexecutionofstrategies.
Emphasisisputonincreasedcompetitivenesssothattheathletewillbebetterprepared
forthepossibilityofparticipatinginvarsitylevelathletics.Therewillalwaysbean
opportunityatanygivenpointintheseasonforyoutoparticipateinthevarsitygame.

Varsity:
Varsityparticipationputsgreateremphasisoncompetitiveness.Theexpectationwillbe
higher,practicesmoreintense,andtherewillbemoreemphasisonwinning.Playing
timeisntguaranteedatthislevel.
Emphasiswillbeputonintermediateandadvancedskillsandstrategies,alongwith
teambuildingandteamchemistry.
Atthislevelgirlsareexpectedtobeabletomasterthefundamentalskillsandhavea
goodunderstandingofindividualandteamconcepts.
Participationatthevarsitylevelrequiresamuchlargercommitmenttotheteamandthe
program.Varsitylevelparticipationcanchangefrequently(atthediscretionofthe
coachingstaff)throughouttheseasonbasedonability,hardwork,andteam
commitment.

ExpectationsofallRebelSoftballPlayers:
Playerswillberespectfultoallstudents,players,coaches,umpires,teachersandstaff.
Thisincludesdisrespectduringtheschoolday,afterschool,orandotheronlinemedia
applications.Youwillbedisciplinedappropriatelyonthefieldforyourbehavioroffthe
field.DisciplinewillbedeterminedbytheSNSoftballcoachingstaff.Youdonothaveto
bebestfriends,butyouwillrespectthattheyareyourteammate.
Playerswillexemplifygoodbehavior.Youarearepresentativeofthisteamandyour
school.Yourbehaviorsreflectonallthoseinvolved.Ifyouchosenottousegood
behavioryouwillbeaskedtoleaveuntilyoucangetyourbehaviorincheck.
Playerswillbeaccountable,responsibleandcommitted.
Playerswillbecooperativeandhelpeachotherinandoutofsoftball.Theywillbea
teamthroughandthrough.


AllplayerswillbeexpectedtoabidebyallschoolrulesandpoliciesaswrittenintheSNHS
handbook.

SchoolAttendance:Playersarerequiredtobeinattendanceatschooltheentiredayofa
gameunlessproperlyexcused.Excusedabsencescanbefoundintheschoolhandbook.Ifyou
areinquestion,pleasecontacttheofficebeforemissinganyschoolonagameday.Also,
studentsmustnothaveanyunexcusedabsencesthedayafteranevent.Ifanunexcused
absenceisearnedforthenextschoolday,thestudentwillnotparticipateinthenextscheduled
game.

Academics:SNHSstatesthatstudentsmustbemakingsatisfactoryprogresstowardsthe
schoolsrequirementsforgraduation.Theschoolwherethestudentisfullyenrolledand
regularlyattendsshalldeterminesatisfactoryprogress.Youareastudentfirstandanathlete
second.Youracademicsarepriority.Allstudentsmustmaintainpassingmarksinallclasses.
Studentswhoreceiveafailingmarkatanygiventimeduringtheseasonwillberequiredtosit
outpracticeorgamesuntiltheyarenolongerontheFlist.IfastudentisplacedontheFlist,
thentheywillberequiredtositoutATLEAST1practice.PlayersareSTILLREQUIREDto
cometopracticeregardlessofgradesbutwillsitinthedugoutandworkonhomework.Ifthey
havenohomeworkthentheywillberequiredtostudyorread.Itisimportantthatyouarestillat
practicebecausewemaybecoveringsomethingnewandyouwillstillberequiredtoknowit.
Theentirecoachingstaffismadeupofteachers,sopleasefeelfreetoaskforhelpwhen
needed.Weareateamonandoffthefieldandthisalsoincludestheclassroom.

Practicetimesmayvarydaytodayplanaccordingly.Allpracticesaremandatoryand
youareexpectedtostaytheentiretime.Bereadytogobythestarttime.Forwhatever
reasonyouareabsent,anabsenceisstillanabsence.Runningwillresultforalossof
practice/conditioningtime.Youwillberequiredtorunatotalof5lapsaroundtheoutside
ofthesoftballfence.Ifyouarerunningindoorsthenitisatotalof10suicides.Allrunning
istobecompletedbeforeparticipatinginupcomingpracticesorgames.Theexact
amountrequiredtorunwillbeatthediscretionofthecoachingstaffandcanbeedited
basedontheirdecisionsandisNEVERnegotiable.
Practicesbeginontimeshowupprepared.Thisincludesgettingice,prewrap,using
therestroom,etcbeingcompletedbeforepractice.Frequenttardinessand
unpreparednesswillresultinlossofplayingtime.
Absencesfrompracticewillresultinalossofplayingtimeatthediscretionofthe
coachingstaff.Regardlessofthereasons,missingpracticewillresultinrunninganda
lossofplayingtime.
 Atotalof2unexcusedabsenceswillresultinaplayercoachesmeetingandpotential
removalfromtheteam.Illness,familyemergenciesandschoolrelatedissuesare
excused.Toomuchhomework,vacations,etc...arenotexcused.Regardlessofexcuse,
youwillstillbeexpectedtorun(makeupconditioningfrommissedpractice).Atotalof3
unexcusedabsenceswillresultinautomaticremovalfromtheteam.
Ifyouareunabletoattendpracticeyoumusttellyourcoachbeforenoonofthatday.
Thisisyourresponsibility,notanotherplayer.Ifyoufailtonotifyacoachthenyouwillbe
countedasanunexcusedabsence.
ALWAYSbepreparedforindoorandoutdoorpractices.Weatherisunpredictable.When
practicingoutdoorsyoumustwearpants(Iwouldrecommendsoftballpants)becauseof
sliding.
EVERYONEtakescareofequipment.Practiceplanswillbepostedbeforeeachpractice
andallequipmentandstationsshouldbesetupaccordingly.NOONEleavespractice
untileverythingiscleanedupandputaway.Wewillendeverypracticewithateamcall.
Bagsshouldbelinedupoutsideofthedugoutgloves/helmets/batsshouldbereadily
available.Thedugoutandgymnasiumwillbekeptclean.
NOCELLPHONES.
Bats,helmetsandgloveswillNEVERbethrown.
Noswearing,complainingorexcuses.Nonegativetalkandnobadattitudes.Wewillnot
dwellonmistakesorproblems.Wewillworktowardgettingbetterandfindingsolutions.
Ifyouarehavingabadday,leaveitoffthefieldoryouwillbeaskedtoleave.
Nogossipingorotherdiscussionsdeemedinappropriatewillbetoleratedduring
practice.Ifaskedtochangethesubjectandyoudonot,thenrunningwillresult.Weare
heretoplaysoftballandtoworkhard,nottodiscusswhathappenedatschoolthatday.
Hustledoesnotmeanjog.HustlemeanssprintandwesprintEVERYWHERE.Dont
everletmecatchyouwalking.

Fullydressedcomingoutofthelockerroomorbus.
Assoonaswearrive,everyonewillhelpgetequipmentorganizedinthedugout.
Restroombreaksshouldbetakenimmediatelyupongettingoffthebus.Onceeverything
isreadytogo,youwillstartwarmupsTOGETHERasaTEAM.Warmupswillbe
organizedandwellexecuted,showingtheotherteamourhustleandintensity.
Teamwarmupswillincludecardiowarmups,stretching,throwing,hitting,fielding,and
eventuallythe10minuteinfieldwarmup.Thesewarmupswillbecomepartofour
routinewhichallowseveryonetogetmentallyprepared.Theyshouldbetakenseriously
anddonewithapurpose.Laughingandhavingalackadaisicalattitudeduringwarmups
showsfansandtheotherteamthatwedonotcareortakethegameseriously.
Youwillrunonandoffthefield.Ifyouhavetoberemindedmorethanoncetohustleon
andoffthefield,youwillbepulledfromthegame.
 Thebenchshouldbefocused.Stealsignsfromtheotherteam,watchfortendenciesand
supportyourteammates.
Playerswillnotarguewithcoaches,teammatesorumpires.BadsportsmanshipwillNOT
betolerated.Winandlosewithclass.
Allplayersareresponsibleforcleaningupthedugoutandallequipment.
AllplayersmustbebepresentforJVandVarsitygames.Wewilldoeverythingasone
bigteam,withmanyplayersplayingbothJVandVarsitygames.Ifyouarenotdressing
foragame,youandtheotherswhoarenotdressingwillsittogetherasagroupoutside
thedugoutorwillbegivenajobduringthegame(book,stats,etc).

Playersarerequiredtoridethebustoandfromallgamesunlessthereareextenuating
circumstances.
CleatsareNOTtobewornonthebus.
Busistoremainclean.Allgarbagemustbepickedupanddisposedofbeforeexitingthe
bus.Runningwillresultiftrashisfound.
Alwaysrespectthebusrulesandbusdriver.Thankthemaftereachtrip.

Itisaskedthatparentssignuptoprovidefoodanddrinksforroadtrips.
InthepastwehavehadparentsthatdidanAWESOMEjoborganizingcookoutsfor
playersonsomeweekendgames.T hememoriesmadeduringthesetimes,willbelasting
foreachandeveryplayer.Iwouldloveforparentstocontinuethisforthe2016season.
Duringthegame,warmups,orimmediatelyafterthegame,thereshouldbenoparents,
grandparents,etcinordirectlynearthedugout.Thisistomaintainteamfocusas
thesepeoplecaneasilybecomeadistraction.ThisisalsoanIHSAArule.Playersareto
remaininthedugout.
ParentsareNOTpermittedtodiscussplayingtime,etcwithcoaches,especially
followingagame.Parentsarewelcomedtodiscussmatterswiththecoachingstaff,but
wewillnotdiscussotherplayersplayingtime,exceptfortheirchild's.However,before
meetingwithparents,weaskthatwehavealreadydiscussedinwiththeathletes.
