a. Welcome parents, introduce yourself and your position.
b. Begin and end the conference by saying something positive about the student.
c. Ask parent if he/she has any questions, specific concerns.
d. Offer assistance in the future.
e. Summarize
f. Thank the parent for coming to the conference.
3. Be Reassuring: Remember that the parent may be apprehensive and no matter how cooperative
he/she may appear to be, there is still some insecurity and resistance. Try to put the parent at
ease.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be scheduled by the PTC coordinator as designated by SDM. All conferences
scheduled through this system will be located in the Virtual Conference Room unless otherwise designated by
coordinator. Parent/Teacher conferences can be held for any student but are a requirement for students in Tier 3
or 4 levels for pacing.
After you identify the student in need of a Parent/Teacher Conference Lead Teacher/Scheduler for this specific
student should:
REMINDERS:
Parent MUST leave the conference with tips, suggestions and SPECIFIC goals.
Log a missed meeting.
All phone connections must end before another conferences begins. This includes teachers that
have called in.
This is a Level/Tier 1 intervention.
