1 Safety
General safety instructions
The processor was designed for processing medical X-ray films (except for
mammographic films and roll films), and should only be used for this purpose.
The film processor must only be operated by qualified staff, skilled on the machine.
Make sure that only authorized personnel has access to the film processor.
Repairs or modifications on the film processor must only be performed by trained and
authorized service personnel.
If there is visible damage to the machine casing, film processor must not be started or
used.
The integrated safety features must not be overridden or put out of operation.
Disconnect the processor from the mains before performing any maintenance activities.
Like all technical devices, this machine must be operated, cared for and serviced
correctly as described in the documentation provided with the machine.
If the film processor is not operated correctly, or if it is not serviced correctly, Agfa will
not be liable for any resulting disturbances, damage, or injuries.
When installing the film processor observe that either the mains plug or an all-cable
disconnecting device must be provided in the internal installation close to the film
processor and must be easily accessible.
If the machine is connected with other components or assemblies, Agfa will guarantee
safety only for combinations that are approved by Agfa.
In case of conspicuous smoke or noises, immediately disconnect the film processor from
the mains.
A GFI switch with IN = 30 mA, in compliance with country-specific standards* must be
installed.
* Europe: EN61008-1 in compliance with the international standard IEC 61008-1 (Please consider
supplements and corrections)
* Germany: VDE 0664 corresponds to EN61008-1
* US: UL1053 "Ground-Fault Sensing and Relaying Equipment."
A GFI switch must not be installed in an IT network. IT networks have special protection
facilities.
Again please observe the country-specific standards.
Safety rules
For Types 9462 / 106/206/846: This film processor is in compliance with the safety
regulations EN 60950: 1997 (IEC 950) and EN 60601-1-2: 1993,
UL 1950, CSA C22.2 No. 950. The connection to prevent water reflux is in compliance
with DIN 1988.
For Types 9462 / 105/155/165/205/285/845: This film processor is in compliance with the
safety regulations EN 60950: 1992 + A1 A2: 1993 (IEC 950) and EN 60601-1-2: 1993, UL
122, CSA C22.2 No. 950. The connection to prevent water reflux is in compliance with
EN 1717.

The film processor must fit through all doors and hallways on its transport path to the
installation site. The smallest door width must be at least 79 cm (31.1 inches) (width of
the pallet + 1 cm on each side).

Dimensions in cm (inches)
Free minimum space as shown in the Optimum space
drawing must be reserved for repair and We recommend to plan on the free space as
maintenance. shown in the drawing.
Minimum space
This space is an absolute minimum.
Not enough free space around the machine results in longer repair times!
Radiation effects The film processor has not been designed for the installation in the
exposure room, i.e. there is no internal screening against scattered
radiation, if necessary, a screening must be provided.
Cleaning sink A cleaning sink with water tap and hose shower should be provided
for maintenance work.
Minimum inside dimensions of the sink:
Length 60 cm x width 50 cm x height 20 cm
3 Technical Data
Regulations The free water supply of the machine is in compliance with regulations of DIN
1988, and the application is based on Work Sheet W 503 of the DVGW (technical
regulations for the installation of drinking water).

Replenishment of the correct rates via replenisher bottles starts automatically as soon as a
film is fed. In case of higher consumption of developer and fixer it is also possible to use an
external replenishment system.
For disposal of chemicals and wash water the regulations of the local authorities regarding
the pertaining Sewage Act must be observed!
If it is allowed to drain the exhausted solutions into the sewer, then the drain pipe must be a
polyethylene pipe up to the main pipe (vertical drain pipe).
The installation of the disposal lines to the disposal tanks must be carried out professionally
by authorized technicians.
In Germany this must be done in compliance with 19 WHG and DIN 1988.
In other countries the corresponding national regulations must be considered.
It must be guaranteed that developer or fixer solution are never drained into the public
sewage system, not even in case of overflow caused by clogged pipes. Install the respective
hoses and protection facilities.
In Germany the pertaining regulations are the general minimum requirements for the disposal
of waste water in waters, dated Jan. 31, 1994, Appendix 53 Photographic Processes (silver
halide photography).
In other countries the respective country-specific regulations must be considered.
We recommend to ensure sufficient inclination (approx. 1 cm drop per meter of hose
connection) up to the disposal tanks.
Position the hoses between machine and table always side by side, do not cross them and
do not put them on top of each other. Avoid squeezing of the hoses.

Main switch
Upon machine installation it must be ensured that either the mains connector or an all-
pole circuit breaker is located close to the machine and easily accessible.
For emergencies it must be guaranteed, that the machine can quickly and easily be
disconnected from the mains, in the darkroom as well as in the daylight room!
Ventilation Provide for sufficient air circulation in order to keep the concentration of
chemical fumes low. The required air exchange should is 10 times the room
volume per hour. If you have any questions on this subject please refer to
your local AGFA office.
