EEET2437 Electrical Principles Resistive Circuit

Introduction
In this lab, we will construct and analyse a series-parallel resistive DC network. In particular, students are
required to apply one of the DC network analysis methods introduced in this course to analyse and calculate the
unknown voltages and currents in the following DC network. The students then construct and simulate the
circuit using Cadence Orcad software program in order to measure and compare the calculated results to the
simulated ones.

The circuit to be built in this lab is presented as follows:

Part 1: Calculate the voltage, current, and power

In this phase, students are required to apply one of the DC network analysis methods introduced in this course
to analyse and calculate the unknown voltages (i.e. and ) and currents (i.e. 1 , 2 , and 3 ) in the following
DC network.

Please briefly explain your analyses and calculated results in this part of the report.

Part 2: Build the circuit using Orcad Capture

In this phase, students are required to build the given DC network using Cadence Orcad Capture.

Please briefly explain your circuit construction and illustrate your completely built circuit in this part of the
report.

Part 3: Circuit simulation and analyses

In this phase, students are required to setup and run proper simulations to analyse the operation of the built
circuit, then compare the simulation results with the calculated ones.

Please briefly explain your simulation setup, the simulation results (i.e. waveform, measured results, etc.), your
comparisons and conclusions.

IMPORTANT
1. For more information regarding using Cadence Orcad to construct, simulate, and analyse your circuits,
please refer to the document Lab 0 - Introduction to Cadence Orcad Capture and Pspice.pdf of this
course.
2. Please make the report title page using your own template. It should at least include the University
name, course name and course code, report name, a list of authors with their student ID, a list of course
lecturers, and the submission date.
3. Even though there is no official limitation in terms of the number of words, pages, etc. used in the
report, students are very much encouraged to produce a neat, informative report.
For more information regarding report writing, please refer to the following RMIT supporting website:
https://emedia.rmit.edu.au/learninglab/content/writing-skills
4. Please strictly follow the report submission guideline (send in a separate file/email)
