insurancecompanyforpoorqualityofservicerenderedbyanyofitsoffices/branches,
pleaseapproachtheNodalOfficeroftheInsuranceCompanyconcerned.Incaseyouarenot
satisfiedwiththeInsuranceCompanysresponseyoumayalsofileacomplaintwiththe
InsuranceOmbudsmaninyourState.TheInsuranceOmbudsmanisanindependentoffice

Policyholderswhohavecomplaintsagainstinsurersarerequiredtofirstapproachthe
Grievance/CustomerComplaintsCelloftheconcernedinsurer.Iftheydonotreceivea
responsefrominsurer(s)withinareasonableperiodoftimeoraredissatisfiedwiththe
responseofthecompany,theymayapproachtheGrievanceCelloftheIRDAI.Fordetailsof

MakinganApplicationundertheRighttoInformationAct,2005

CitizensofIndiawillhavetomaketherequestforinformationinwriting,clearlyspecifying
theinformationsoughtundertheRighttoInformationAct,2005.Theapplicationforrequest
shouldgivethecontactdetails(postaladdress,telephonenumber,faxnumber,email
address)sothattheapplicantscanbecontactedforclarificationsorforfurtherinformation.
AspertheAct,informationcanbefurnishedonlytocitizensofIndiabutnottoothers.

HowdoIsendmyapplication?

AcitizenwhodesirestoseeksomeinformationfromtheAuthorityisrequiredtosend,along
withtheapplication,ademanddraftorabankerschequeoranIndianPostalOrderof
Rs.10/(Rupeesten),payabletotheAccountsOfficeroftheAuthorityasfeeprescribedfor
seekinginformation.ThepaymentoffeecanalsobemadebywayofcashtotheAuthority,
againstaproperreceipt.

Applicationscanalsobemadeoverfaxoremail.IRDAIwilltakeuptheapplicationfor
consideration,asrequiredundertheAct,onlyaftertheapplicationfeehasbeenreceived.

IfIRDAIhastheinformationandcanprovideittoyouitwill,within30daysofitsreceiving

informationasprescribedunderSection7(1)ofRighttoInformationAct.

Youwillgettheinformation,onceIRDAIreceivesthepaymenttowardsprovidingthe

CanIRDAIrefusetogivemeinformation?

TheRighttoInformationAct,2005underSections8and9exemptscertaincategoriesof
informationfromdisclosures.Theseinclude:

Information,disclosureofwhichwouldprejudiciallyaffectthesovereigntyandintegrityof
India,thesecurity,strategic,scientificoreconomicinterestsoftheState,relationwith
foreignStateorleadtoincitementofanoffence.
