 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. The name you provide will appear identically on all official documents.
2. Indicate your permanent address. Your permanent address is a stable address, which will be valid for
a long period of time. This is the address where you may be reached, even if your mailing address
changes. Indicate the phone number, residence and mobile number, fax number and the email address.
3. Indicate your qualifying examination passed, year of passing, register number, number of appearances
and the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations. Photocopies of the mark sheet should be
enclosed. Original should be submitted during the time of counselling and admission.
4. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. The candidate should pay the
entire Programme fee minus whatever has been already paid, if he / she discontinues the programme
any time after its commencement.
5. SASTRA reserves its right not to conduct a programme, if the response to that particular programme
is not sufficient.
6. SASTRA wishes that there be no dispute on any account. However if there is any dispute the
jurisdiction will be Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.
7. Ragging is a cognizable offence and any form of ragging either inside or outside the campus is totally
prohibited. Indulging in ragging will result in expulsion from the University and/or imprisonment up to
three years and/or fine up to Rs.25,000/-.
8. 20% (10%+10%) of total intake will be offered to students from Trichy and Thanjavur Districts,
provided the applicant has completed both X and XII from any school located in Trichy or Thanjavur
District. 30% of the remaining seats will be alloted to students from states other than Tamil Nadu.
9. Last date for submission of completed application form for all B.Tech. programmes is
12.06.2010 (6.00 p.m.) Applicants are advised to see the website for the rank list and counselling
dates which will be available from 9.00 p.m. on 12.06.2010.

The 5-year integrated M.Tech. programme runs concurrently with B.Tech. programme (in paranthesis) till the
seventh semester, after which the student completes PG level courses in 8th & 9th semesters and project work
during the 10th semester.

Eligibility for B.Tech. / Integrated M.Tech. programmes:

Ø A pass in the +2 examination with Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry
/ Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and recognized by any State Board / Central Board or
any other accepted by SASTRA as equivalent to 10+2 examination, with a minimum aggregate of 60%
marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology obtained in a
single sitting
Ø Students with diploma in Engineering / Technology are eligible for direct admission to the second year of
the relevant B.Tech. Programme
Ø The candidate should not have completed 19 years as on 1.7.2010. (21 years for Lateral Entry)
Admission Procedure:
Admissions to the I year B.Tech. Programme will be based on the marks secured in the +2 qualifying
examination following the normalization process. To bring all candidates from different examining Authorities
/ Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2 marks will be
normalized. A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate
mark of all other students of the board are normalized with reference to that of the first rank student. For
example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicant's aggregate is 90% then the applicant's normalized percentage
is 92.78 (90/97 x 100). A merit list is drawn based on the normalized percentage for making admissions.
This is for 70% of the seats and the remaining 30% will be alloted by CCB, Govt. of India through AIEEE’2010.
