Partners in Supply Chain.
Vendor management deploys tremendous of finances. It
decides how well you will do eventually.
This 3 credit hours course develops the strategic understanding
of sourcing in participants and describes the context and process
of supplier selection.
It highlights why each step is important, how the steps are
interrelated, and how managing the resulting complexity leads
to success in business.
Pre-Reqs

There are no pre-reqs except the ones used by university


during admissions.
Students who understand basic management and
mathematics related concepts will easily adapt to the
course.
Course Objectives
The broader objective of this course is to develop leaders in
the area of Supply Chain Management, focusing on Supplier
Selection and Bid Evaluation.
The course aims to develop participants knowledge (in some
cases, practice too) in:
Appreciating critical importance of sourcing in organizations
Understanding what suppliers can accomplish for the organizations
Evaluating potential suppliers
Selecting the strategic partners
Monitoring the performance of suppliers
Understanding Vendor Management function in organizations

Course Contents
In the 18 available sessions (leaving 2 exam sessions) of 3
hours each, following topics will be covered to varying
extent. Some will be detailed, some will be summarized
and given to you as follow up work and some will be
supported by case studies.
The aim is to remain focused on the objectives of the MS-
SCM program and this course.
Overall, the course is divided into 6 modules. 3 of them
will be covered before, and the rest 3, after the mid term
exam.

It is expected that participants will contribute in / attend all


sessions save emergencies and special considerations.
Almost all sessions will be combinations of lectures,
discussions on case studies, workshops and group work.
Participants are expected to adhere to social norms such as
decent dress, respect for other participants and other
stakeholders, abstinence from smoking, cell phone usage
and distracting discussions.
Assignments/ Quizzes

There will be 6-8 individual or group assignments/ quizzes


throughout the course. Participants will have to follow the
deadlines strictly.
Course Project

Besides assignments and quizzes, participants will also


complete a course project.
Project will have a significant impact on your final grades.

Details and topics of the project(s) will be decided in 3rd


and 4th sessions of the course.
Midterm and Final Papers

Mid Term and Final exam will be taken on scheduled dates


as per university policy.
