House Resolution 1327 (AM)

A RESOLUTION

1 Designating the Technology Corridor and Georgia's High Tech Corridor and providing for
2 certain authority and duty of the Department of Transportation; and for other purposes.

3 WHEREAS, the General Assembly recognizes that future economic development for the
4 City of Augusta may well lie with expanding the research and technologies involving
5 biomedical activities currently being undertaken between the Medical College of Georgia
6 and the University of Georgia; and

7 WHEREAS, the economic development of any community or geographic area is in great

8 measure dependent upon the quality of the surface transportation facilities serving the
9 community of that area; and

10 WHEREAS, the General Assembly hereby recognizes the obvious merits in identifying the
11 major road linking the City of Augusta and Athens as a critical component to the continued
12 investments in the communities on or near the SR 10/US 78.

13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

14 GEORGIA that the portion of SR 10/US 78 from the corporate limits of the City of Augusta
15 to the corporate limits of the City of Athens is designated as the Technology Corridor.

16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the portion of U. S. Highway 441 from the corporate
17 limits of the City of Dublin to the point at which it connects with U. S. Highway 341 and
18 from the portion of U. S. Highway 341 from the corporate limits of the City of Perry to the
19 corporate limits of the City of Brunswick is designated as Georgia's High Tech Corridor.

20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and

21 directed to place and maintain appropriate markers and signs so designating such corridor.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized

2 and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of
3 Transportation.
