Tell Me Something About Yourself.

Sir, firstly I would like to acknowledge the privilege given to introduce myself. Thank you.
Sir, I was born in the holy city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. Belonging to a humble and
conservative family, I was never stopped from exploring newer trajectories of life.
Surrounded by people from the science background, curiosity and logic got hardwired into
my brain. On the other hand my mother taught me to believe in god and have faith. Parents
peripatetic career exposed us, brother-sister, to different zones of India, which is why both of
us found learning new languages easy. Also these transfers have made us proficient in
adapting to new locations. My father taught me to appreciate every opportunity of learning,
which is why I could visualize and operate a plant within a couple of weeks. Sir, a year ago I
ventured into the field of research to expand my knowledge about other fields of science.
Transportation, as opposed to what I thought, played a major role in our day to day lives. It
was here at this institute (TERI) I learnt about government policies and how they help in
protecting the environment against emissions. I was also exposed to reports of World Bank
and UN which cultivated my knowledge in the field of electric vehicles, low carbon methods
for sustainable and green highways etc.

Apart from this, I have a penchant for teaching, in my previous job I gave trainings to
operators to improve their productivity and thus, imparted my knowledge about TPM and
5s and even English. Sir, I have always participated in sports related activities and my
favourite sport is Badminton. Along with sports I love sketching sceneries and I have also
played tabla when I was young.

Currently, I am researching about the steel industry and how government policies relating to
the industry may play a major role in increasing the overall share of freight for the Indian
Railways.

Which Specialization do you want to do?

Sir, I would go for either finance or operation depending on my interest development

through my first couple of terms at your institute. Sir, I am an engineer and my
specialization was in manufacturing, thus my interest in the production lines and
optimization has been since the under-graduation. Moreover I have also worked in a plant
which made me realise that I could contribute much more to the profits through
implementations of operational strategies.

On the other hand, finance because, I believe that funding is one of the important resources
without which an organisation cannot sustain for long. To efficiently manage these funds
requires skills and the Finance course will provide me with sufficient knowledge and tools to
make me confident enough to manage an organisations finance.
Do we really need smart cities?

Smart city is a concept where people can live in comfort and commute to their destination
with ease, without causing any harm to the environment. The concept enables policy makers
to engage in planning and designing a habitat for the future generation.

The planning enables government officials to visualize how future settlements would look.
With technological advancement like, ITS (Integrated Transport System), metros, smart
housing and easy connectivity, the government and city planners have a duty to integrate all
such innovative practices, considering its utility for the city.
