Osmosis labs introduction

There are two main types of membrane transport. The first one is active transport. Active
transport is the movement of molecules that move against their gradient. Passive transport is also
one of the main type of membrane transport. Passive transport is the movement of molecules
from high to low concentration. (Studios, 2017). Osmosis is a big example for passive transport.
Osmosis is the process of solute(water) move across semipermeable membrane from high to low
concentration. There are three types of solution. Three types are hypotonic solution, hypertonic
solution, isotonic solution. Hypotonic solution is when concentration in solution less than inside
the cell. Hypertonic solution is when concentration in solution more than inside the cell. Isotonic
solution is when concentration in solution equal on both side. ("Khan Academy", 2017)
The experiment we are going to take is about osmosis. We are going to put a material into
solution which will imitate the cell in solution. After we put in the material into solution osmosis
will happen. If the material that we put in have more concentration than the solution, then that is
mean it is a hypotonic which will cause the material to shrink.
